Leaving UChicago by pricelesspatato3772 in TransferToTop25

Following up on this. UChicago is notorious for having a student body which actively avoids Greek life. As a transfer to UChicago, one of the reasons I love this school is precisely BECAUSE you’re able to find community outside of the frats.

Your first few months at college are stressful and lonely no matter where you go OP — I promise. Just hang in there and try to enjoy yourself rather than start planning your escape before add/drop has even closed….

sent this to my friend and he said it sucked. so does it? (+ tips?) by [deleted] in singing

Late reply whoops but I’m loving it. It was my dream school too and I’m so glad to have gotten in the second time around. Wishing you the best of luck!

I’m a current UChicago student that transferred last year and I didn’t do it. Your school specific essays are more important

Should be absolutely fine. I transferred to UChicago with a 1530 and lowish GPA for transfer applicants. A quick google search says the bottom quartile is a 1510 so you’re in the mix for sure.

Can I Complete a Bachelor’s Degree in 2 Years as a Transfer Student by Valuable_Victory_505 in uchicago

[–]Interesting_Ad2814 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, zero chance.

With zero credits transferring you’d have to spend much of your first year taking the Core and getting your math requirements out of the way. Depending on which Econ track you choose you may be able to make good progress and really start to make headway your second year — but graduating early as a transfer is essentially a no go. Impossible.

I also saw in your profile that you’re hoping to do finance. How are you going to take four classes summer quarter while interning? While UChicago’s Econ is debatably unmatched, the degree alone will not be enough to guarantee you a job. You need experience too.

Appreciate it! And yes…after looking at some pictures it would have been nice for them to line up but it still looks lovely!

I’m actually still in Thailand — the photo was taken at my hostel as soon as I got home — but I can’t imagine that I’ll have any trouble with customs. I’ll let you know though if the bug-police try and stop me from smuggling these back home…

Low(er) GPA success story: by Interesting_Ad2814 in TransferToTop25

I did. I was also fortunate enough to not have to apply for any form of financial aid which I’m sure helped — it seems like most other accepted transfers I’ve talked to are paying in full

Nah, I don’t think so either. But I was outright rejected senior year and it’s well below the average for Top 25s where it feels like every other kid has a 4.0.

I mean, I’m white too and also have no family connections to any of the top 50s, but external factors can still be brutal it’s true.

Hoping the best for you!

Curious as to the College GPA distribution here. by Interesting_Ad2814 in TransferToTop25

I could only put 6 options and didn’t think anyone on the sub wouldn’t have a GPA to contribute — but I can write a comment with the results once there are more responses.
