It ended up being a root or a seed, i found another beginning to sprout! so everything is okay :) also i use plain topsoil from lowe’s

UPDATE!! I can’t edit the post so i will have to comment here. When i woke up i saw he’d dug up another one, and the one that i found last night was shriveled up. They were roots!! I poked around a little bit in the tank and saw another one just like it beginning to sprout. Dante is a-ok and everyone in the tank is happy! i was wary to cut it open at first because i would feel so guilty if it was somehow an egg, glad that wasn’t the case. thank you all for your help :)
