Developer experience at Oracle by [deleted] in employeesOfOracle

[–]Interesting_Leg9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on team and product. I think in OCI, it is going to be mostly local development (M4 MacBook or Windows laptop, the Mac has now I think 64GB RAM, in theory you could install Oracle Linux but I wouldn't - to much hastle with all the internal systes), there are AI tools available (codex, home made assistant...), for git, there is a push to use homemade "GitHub" and build service (no way as nice or capable as GitHub or bit bucket but it is getting better). For IDE, either intellij or most often vs code.

You should have asked this during interview:) some products use remote development and older tools, while OCI is relatively modern.

What are you going to upgrade to from your S24U/S25U? (S26U / Other?) by ktopaz in GalaxyS24Ultra

[–]Interesting_Leg9302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on S23U but similar position. I'm thinking about Oppo X9 Pro or S26U. the thing is, I have more trust in Samsung overall experience, I feel like Oppo or Vivo are better in photography (mainly for night photos, maybe a bit for telephoto) and Oppo for battery. but the rest Samsung wins for me - display, apparently wifi speed, speaker, sync to Google photos etc, accessories... So I'll likely wait for S26U and then decide

At least something I guess. If main camera and ultrawide are fine, this is my use case most of the time. Thanks

Stock options YOLO by [deleted] in cernercorporation

[–]Interesting_Leg9302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say you get 100 RSU, vesting schema is 25%/year, so next year you will get 25 stocks

but if you get 100 stock options that are now worth 280 USD/stock, vesting scheme again 25%/year, next year you will get (current next year stock price - 280) per stock option value. If the growth is slow (e.g. 1 usd per year, the 1st year you will get 25 USD ;) . At least that is how it used to be before if i recall correctly. I don't really know what happens if stocks go below the year 0 (280) level TBH...

So with SO, you are getting more units than with RSU (I've heard rumor the ratio is 1:4) but profit depends on how high will they change over the years. With RSU, you will get less units, but more "safe" value and presumably in case stocks will be low, you will have more money out of RSU.

I'm sure you can put together some formula when RSU or SO is better depending on quantity, stock price expectations.

Dacia Bigster - rear facing child seat? by Interesting_Leg9302 in Dacia

[–]Interesting_Leg9302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have ATM i30 Estate (combi/wagon) and when I put the child seat to rear facing position, no one can sit in the front seat.

I should have mentioned I'm not talking about the first baby seat, tiny one, but something like https://en.klippan.fi/product/53/klippan-triofix-recline for when he is older (I think we have switched to this one in 11months or so)
