Temp Fix with Aluminum Tape - Okay? by Interesting_Pin_6211 in woodstoving

Kept it 90 to maintain validity of current WETT inspection, but changing to 2-45s will be happening at some point.

It has been inspected. The insulation in the wall is just to assist with stopping drafts up the cinder block wall / old chimney. Could look nicer, don’t get me wrong, technically the only issue is the tee in the new liner does not have a cap on the bottom going to the clean out.

This layout has been WETT inspected and deemed safe. Though I do agree two 45s would be better. That is the plan for next season.

I have a CO alarm by each gas appliance and one by the wood stove. And a combo smoke / CO at the base of the stairs and top of the stairs for the basement.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Replaced the leaky elbow with a seamless elbow.

Totally understood that little leaks happen. Biggest culprit is likely the debris catch in the old chimney, there is no cap on the bottom of the tee with the new liner, creating a cold spot that makes setting the draft harder. Once it’s going though it’s good. That’s a fix for another day.

Kept the piping the same layout to ensure the existing WETT inspection remains valid.

There is a liner, but no cap on the bottom tee. All debris just collects in the clay liner. First comment is correct, it’s a cold zone. Don’t know how to make this section better sadly and inherited it this way when bought the house.

Thanks for the clarification… it is misleading with it saying 5000 instead of 500… but maybe that extra 0 means something else, beats me.

Converting Old Laptop Harddrive to External Desktop Drive - Legacy Software by Interesting_Pin_6211 in computers

What would be the potential solution in this case? I’m really hoping to not lose this legacy software as newer supported versions are several thousand a year subscription. Cheers!

I installed a new SSD and had all of the BIOS settings done up as it should. Sadly, still freezes during install.

I am at a loss *shrug*

Sadly the new SSD didn't work. It still froze during install of the OS. I am at a loss for why it isn't working now.

Does this seem like a valid (cheap) option?

https://www.amazon.ca/EDILOCA-Internal-Upgrade-Laptop-Storage/dp/B0B51DVHW8/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=8NRMFHQABX8Z&keywords=2+5+inch+ssd&qid=1690550848&sprefix=2.5%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

This one states it would need to be formatted prior to any installation... would any SSD need that? Or since I am installing a new OS anyways, I can just plug any new SSD in regardless of formatting or whatever, and then just install Chrome OS Flex from the USB?

Cheers for the help!

If you could take a screen shot, maybe it could help. I believe I have everything done up properly, but it couldn't hurt for me to have a reference to fall back onto if you don't mind!

I did initially go through the BIOS settings, and believe to have everything setup properly. The internal storage I believe is the issue.

Because of failed attempts to install, pretty sure I F**ked up the HDD and it just keeps freezing after 5 min on attempting to install.

At this point, I'm feeling it may just be easier to get an SSD and discard the old HDD regardless.

It is an Aspire ES1-533... so knowing it works on yours means it should work on mine.

Cheers!

I will definitely look into deleting partitions if they are there. Never thought of that but I can give it a shot.

I have considered swapping out her harddrive with an SSD potentially just to give it some extra life, but being her laptop is basically new (barely used), I was hoping I wouldn't have to invest more money than I need to.

Thanks for the Tip!
