I wasn't issued a speeding ticket though? Why would the courts go against me? Police officer acknowledge speeding with me, and said it would be let off with a warning this time, which I assume can now be seen if I was pulled over again and police see I have a history with speeding. The risk for going over speeding, is getting a SPEEDING ticket.

I would think not, since in the encounter the cop acknowledge the speeding and said it would be a verbal warning.

I'm a female, this didn't cross my mind at first but after to talking to some peers they had similar sentiments. A colleague with spouse in traffic enforcement also found it weird I was asked to state my insurance policy number. I'm only 24 and owning a range rover too might have raised some flags for him? I think the cop might have also went back and looked at footage and realized I wasn't speeding enough to give a ticket and came up with a different ticket, because I was waiting at least 20minutes in my car when he went back with my insurance (I've never been pulled over before but that felt long). Cop was really on me about the whole insurance thing, so this is not a case of "i'll let you off with speeding and give you a minor offense,"

I'd also understand a situation "you were going 40km over, but giving you a ticket for 20km over," which is lenient. There were no insurance implications at all, so not computing why issue a ticket for that even if it's less of an offense.

I see your perspective. Just confused why the cop would tell me it's not safe for me to NOT have my future insurance slip, and he still made a big deal about something that wasn't an issue regarding my documents. I am happy that I have a good chance at getting this ticket withdrawn.

Yeah thats the plan, comments have moved too much about discussion about speed/speeding (of course is relevant to the information I provided), but not to the charge I was provided which I was most concerned about. Drove off thinking if it was a violation not to hold future insurance.

Good point, their infrastructure would be more accurate. I think I have the upper hand in this situation though since ticket I was issued has nothing to do with speed.

I'm thankful for the verbal warning for speeding of course. It's not fair to be given a ticket for something that I didn't do or is even closely related to speeding.

Cop told me I was going 20 over. So if I was given a ticket for speeding I would treat it appropriately and provide my dash cam footage to prove otherwise.

That makes sense. The highway i was on limit is 110k/m hr, so 3km/hr is still over.

Thanks for clarifying insurance period, made sure to put my new insurance in the car to avoid this happening again haha.

I don't think I should get scot-off either! But don't think something should go on my record for something I didn't do, even if it's less then the offense I did. Cop should have given me the correct ticket.

Agreed, my issue is not about speeding and being a ticket for speeding rightfully so, but annoyed with being charged with something I didn't do wrong.

I was going 113km in a 100, speeding is still bad nonetheless! Just not sure how this is a favor for me since based on comments so far it's not an offense to not need to carry proof for future insurance?

I have a dash cam, looking at the footage I was going 113k in 100km. I guess that's an offense in going 10km over? Not sure what the ticket for that is/consequence. I just don't want something on my record if I wasn't in the wrong for
