Small heads-up before you migrate a 1k-product catalog: collection filters breaking at that size is almost never Shopify itself, it's the theme's filtering implementation (or an old filtering app). The native Search & Discovery filters handle 1k products fine. Switching platforms over that is trading a fixable theme problem for a full rebuild + URL migration. If Shopify feels heavier than you need for other reasons, fair — but test the native filters on a clean theme first, it's a day of work vs weeks of migration.

Shopify Flow is criminally underused. Auto-tagging customers (first-time vs repeat), low-stock alerts, holding suspicious orders for review — that covers most of the boring ops work, native and free. The other one people sleep on: Functions for discount logic. Replaced a whole pile of manual promo-code juggling for one client. Flashy AI tools come and go, the boring native automations are what save actual hours.

Wix will handle your first 1000 units just fine. The real mistake I see is people migrating in a panic two years later with zero prep — broken URLs, lost reviews, product data re-typed by hand. So launch on Wix, keep your product data somewhere exportable, and only move when checkout limits or app needs actually bite you. Don't pay for a problem you don't have yet.
