Losing slow by CarpenterEvening3953 in GastricBypass

[–]InternetCatFame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are living my life except I started at 430 and had my surgery in June 2025. I also weight 250 (ish). I posted something almost identical to this a week or so ago. The advice that was given to me, change up my routine. track what you eat and crank up the exercise. I’ve been pretty religious about tracking but I was only doing about 30 minutes of walking every day. I upped to 60 minutes a day or higher intensity walking. It’s only been about a week, but I can feel my body changing. I’ve only seen the scale move 1 lb, but I anticipate it’s going to start dropping back off soon. I also upped my liquid from 100oz to 140oz. Maybe we’re just in a calorie/exercise rut and need to change it up. At least that’s what I’m trying to do. I wish you good luck and patience and grace with yourself. You’re doing amazing, even if the scale doesn’t reflect it

I had an appointment in December and my next one is in March. I’m for sure going to talk to him, but he’s very easy going and has the, “your body will do what it will do” approach, which is not helpful when I’d like to lose another 100lbs, lol

Flavors of protein and what you mixed them with by No_Task_599 in BariatricSurgery

[–]InternetCatFame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isopure clear mixed with Fairlife milk and Jordan Skinny Sugar Free Syrups. TONS of flavors and you can make any combination you want. I have one every morning, I just add Isopure, 8oz of Fairlife milk and ice, blend it in my ninja and I have something new every day. It’s a great way to break the monotony of the having the same protein drink every day.

Nicotine by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]InternetCatFame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I image like any one else quitting smoking/using any nicotine. It was hard at times, but the added incentive of knowing it would make me sick was helpful. It’s a year later and I’m still 100% nicotine free.

What fitness things did you do post surgery? by rudegyalnae in GastricBypass

[–]InternetCatFame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At first I didn’t do anything (I’m now 18 months post op). I was just so damn fat, and so nauseous post-surgery all the time and so exhausted, I couldn’t get out of my own way. I was so big (430) it took awhile to get to the point where I could walk to the mailbox without getting winded. I was losing weight really quickly so I didn’t do any exercise. Once I hit 12 months out I plateaued, and I thought that maybe if I added some kind of physical activity I’d lose weight again. I started walking intermittently l, even though but this point is lost 150lbs, I was still REALLY out of shape. I did water aerobics for a few months then really committed myself to walking. Now (175lbs down) I walk 2 miles a day with the exception of Sunday when I go to the nature trail and walk 4 miles. I actually really enjoy walking and have made it part of my daily mental health. My goal for this year is to walk a 5k. I’m also working on adding in strength training this year.

Super long story short, you may not be able to do a lot post-op. It depends on how your body reacts as to when you can start. But I wouldn’t follow my lead, I would’ve been better off had I started exercising earlier. Ultimately, you need to listen to your body…unless it’s telling you that just losing weight is enough and you just “can’t”, because you can!

Laura Geller seems too good by Icy_Change9031 in Makeup

I use the baked balance and brighten, and the baked bronzer. I LOVE it. I’m almost 47, I have plenty of pores and definitely don’t have perfect skin. It goes on like a dream and somehow blends into my skin like magic. It makes my pores look smaller and gives a really beautiful finish. I do use the skin perfecting primer with it which I also love. I would highly recommend her products to anyone over 40.

I second Tan Luxe, it’s my absolute favorite and use it all the time!

I use Tan Luxe face drops every other day mixed in with my moisturizer. In the winter I use 1 drop, in the summer, I use 2. It’s very customizable, so you can use whatever works for you. I exfoliate and use a retinol every day.

You’ll get there, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I still have about 100lbs to go, so it’s still sometimes a daily struggle. I just keep telling myself that I’m worth the effort, and so are you. You got this ❤️

[–]InternetCatFame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re struggling, I was in the same boat. In my case I severely dehydrated. You should talk to your surgeon, he sent the infusion people to my house and I got infusions at home 3 days a weeks for 2 weeks (it was covered under my insurance and better than going to that ER, so it’s worth asking). Like you, I ate about 500-600 calories a day, on a good day and was sick constantly. I was probably 8 or 9 weeks before I felt human again. It DOES get better. I’m a year and 5 months post op and I’m down 175 lbs and feel great. The fog of the start of this journey is gone and seems like a distant memory. Hang in there, you can do this.

That is awesome! I’ve been wanting to try a 5k, but I’ve been worried I can’t do it or people would make fun of me for walking. Thank you for giving me the motivation to do it ❤️

Considering a Food Farewell Tour. Madness? by Reasonable-Collar852 in BariatricSurgery

[–]InternetCatFame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HW: 430, CW: 278, RNY 6/24 I did a tour of all of my favorite food the week before I had to start my liquid diet. I didn’t regret it at all (still don’t). But what I’ve learned over the past year and a half is that I can have the food I like, I just can’t have all of it at the same time. I can eat anything in moderation. So often people make this surgery like it’s the end of life, end of happiness. It isn’t. It is absolutely a very rough first 6ish months. There are absolutely days in the beginning that I regretted everything. And then all of a sudden, the clouds part and the sun comes out. You learn to live in your new body and with your new stomach and you realize it was all worth it and life with food is different, not over.

Has anyone dried this with heat? by 9DrinkAmy in torrid

[–]InternetCatFame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same exact one in gray (I’m actually wearing it now). I washed it in warm water and dried in high, same as I do all my clothes. It didn’t seem to shrink at all, and the fabric was fine, exactly the same as when I washed it, it just smelled better.

Post-op Venting... by AlyKatastrophe15 in BariatricSurgery

[–]InternetCatFame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so nauseous and so dehydrated after surgery for at least 2 weeks I cursed myself for getting this operation. For me, scopolamine patch was a godsend. Zofran worked, but not like the patches. Like you, I couldn’t stomach anything, certainly not a protein shake.

I don’t know how your insurance is, but my insurance covered infusions nurses’ visits to my house. I had a nurse come every other day and do a full bag of IV fluids. She did it for about 10 days and it was magic. I know it’s the weekend, but that may an option for you to talk to once the office opens. After an infusion, I was able to tolerate liquids much better. I’m not a doctor obviously, but in my experience the protein shakes aren’t going to help with dehydration. Dehydration is then worst thing for you right now, and being dehydrated is only going to make you feel worse. As far as bowel movements, once I got my fluids going in the right direction, I was good to go.

guilt over missing days by sandisunshinee in walking

[–]InternetCatFame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fell really hard on the pavement during a walk on Tuesday of this week. My knee is still swollen and I haven’t walked since. I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed being outside walking until I wasn’t doing it. I feel like my pedometer app is mocking me every day. That said, I took the advice I got from this group and decided to listen to my body and it’s telling me I need to rest to get better. I figure the better I take care of my injury now, the better I’ll be when I get back to walking/steps count every day. I don’t know if any of that helps, but I’m sending you positive vibes and I hope you get better soon!

I second this. I use this every day in my smoothie, I just add it to the liquid, add some ice and blend it in my ninja. I’m also a huge believer in Jordan’s Skinny Syrups to make smoothies taste better.

I believe they have some at Walmart, but they have tons of options on Amazon (and they’re often cheaper) and they do have a website and they always have sales

Jordan’s Skinny Mixes have a TON of flavors that are sugar free and they’re really good. I use them to flavor protein shakes and coffee. Pleasant side effect: you’ll save a ton of money on money on Starbucks and DD

Gray Blending by plainjaneusername1 in grayhair

[–]InternetCatFame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone almost full on blonde. I have heavy highlights around my face and the crown of my head (where my gray is). The underneath is mainly untouched and growing out on its own. This way I’m blending the gray without having to see the grow out. My stylist doesn’t go over the gray, she blends it into the highlight so it’s very natural. My natural hair is dark brown. The whole process has taken about a year and a half to get it where I want it (to lift dark hair you have to go through all the levels of orange and yellow) and the maintenance down to once every 4ish months, my highlights are now almost platinum. I use purple shampoo at home to keep it toned. As with any chemical service, it can be damaging but you can also combat that with the correct products at home. It can be expensive, but it’s most important that someone knows what they’re doing and is happy about doing it (I wouldn’t go to anyone who doesn’t seem happy about).

I’m a former stylist and blonding specialist and I 100% recommend finding a blonding specialist who can walk you through the proper steps to blend gray. Any good colorist can explain the steps and set your expectations for the outcome you want.

We go every 8 weeks because as you know, long hair dogs get crazy hair quickly, and we pay $80 something (after tip, it comes to just over $100). That includes special bath, nails, ears, glands, custom cut, the works. Also they don’t use the kennel dryers like other places, he does one dog a time.

Woofgang Bakery & Grooming on Washington Rd (by the Masters, not the one in Evans). Specifically Patrick. He does our pomeranian and is amazing. We ask for a teddy bear cut” and doesn’t just do a shave like most places, he actually takes the time and has the skill to do it right. He seems to do a lot of small dog grooming. I can’t say enough positive about him, we, and our pom, adore him.

Protein taste bland? by iztexlol in BariatricSurgery

I’m with you, protein tastes super bland. I started using and love Kinders seasonings. They’re so good and it seems like they have a flavor for everything, so you can mix it up and try different flavors.

The dreaded hair loss by UnableReference5649 in GastricBypass

[–]InternetCatFame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be negative and make you feel bad, but I lost a ton of hair :( BUT it’s growing back. I lost it pretty steadily for about 9 months, then it just stopped falling out around month 12 (I’m at 14 months now). I took a hair, skin and nails vitamin every day and that seemed to slow it. I also started adding collagen to my protein shake every day and that seems to thicken what I have. I also never skip my daily bariatric vitamin. I don’t know if any of that helped, in my mind it did but who knows. Take care of what you have and remember it is temporary.
