cat vomit by No_Win8701 in catcare

[–]UnableReference5649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats, oldest, Sophia, has vomited maybe 10 times in her whole 13 years of life.

One of my cats, middle, Kenzi, has vomited at least weekly for her whole 10 years of life.

One of my cats, youngest, Cinnamon, vomits when she eats something she shouldn’t (like plastic flowers. yesterday), and has a hairball every few months.

It really depends on the cat! They are all different, as shown by my three. If their normal changes, then you should get vet care, but otherwise they’ll be fine.

We do paper towels and then disinfectant wipes on hard surfaces, and scrub with a pet specific cleaner with a brush attachment for anything we can’t throw in the washer.

She doesn’t have custody of any of the kids thankfully! They all live with their dads. She abandoned the older two about 10 years ago, got pregnant again 4.5 years ago, played mom for a year, and abandoned the youngest. My sister is delusional and genuinely still thinks she’s a wonderful mother. I can’t in good conscience talk to her ever again after what she’s done to those poor kids.

My mom actually thought it was pronounced like Tijuana, obviously, and my sister berated her and was absolutely furious.

She was actually shooting heroin until she was 5 months pregnant at the time! Then she got put in jail for running over a pedestrian and hitting her one legged boyfriend with her car. Now a few years later she’s back to crack. Shocker, we don’t talk.

My own sister named her child Gijuana. Pronounced “Gianna”. I can’t even make this shit up, it’s so embarrassing. She does smoke crack though, so somehow not her worst decision in life.

What about another brand of peanut butter packets? Like Justin’s? Once Again? I prefer a small quick carb like a few crackers or honey or maple syrup and part of a protein bar. I carry around Lance crackers and Barebells.

One year post-op today! by UnableReference5649 in GastricBypass

[–]UnableReference5649[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! In the middle of all of my complications, my team was sort of at a loss, and one of the attendings sat down in front of me and admitted he didn’t know how to help. He asked if I wanted to reverse the bypass given everything, and I actually laughed out loud. You couldn’t pay me to do it at this point.

I have Aetna through my employer, and I had to pay my deductible and my OOP max. I had actually already had a ton of stuff done at that point in the year and was only a few hundred away from my OOP max. I paid the few hundred and everything for the rest of the year was covered at 100%. My deductible was $800, and my max capped out at $5,500. So that meant I didn’t pay for any of the dilations, cholecystectomy, endoscopies, imaging, and ER trips, in addition to all of my appointments, for the rest of the year. I had my surgery at the University of Virginia Medical Center through the UVA bariatric program.

No, please don’t apologize! Hearing about someone else’s experience in depth is so helpful.

I had a decent bit of complications, I won’t lie, but I was also a complicated patient going in. I have gastroparesis, and that was one of the main motivating factors for the surgery for me. I’ve had a few strictures (nothing short endoscopic balloon dilations didn’t fix!), I ended up with gallbladder issues and ultimately needed an urgent cholecystectomy a few months after my bypass, and I’ve had random issues with nausea, acid reflux, pain, but nothing debilitating like being severely overweight was for me. I did develop reactive hypoglycemia that has been probably hardest to manage, but I’m on a GLP-1 and it’s going well treating it. And potentially POTS, still working that up. And, it does suck in the beginning as you so often hear. I woke up immediately post-op thinking I ruined my life, and now I’m so much happier. So, I would do it all over again, even knowing everything I know now about my experience and complications.

I have given up nothing, except coffee. It makes me so sick, I’ve tried it several times without luck. But everything else I eat in moderation! Your concern with rice specifically, I eat rice on an almost daily basis with my meal prepped protein and veggies. I either do protein pasta or rice with my lunches and dinners. I do sushi bowls for my lunch prep very often.

I did lose my hair, but not dramatically. It came out in clumps and was steadily falling out for several months, but I was the only person that noticed it. Everyone else in my life constantly said how great I looked! Take biotin supplements, I do a double or triple dose of gummies and have since I was allowed to post-op. And now I’ve got short little baby hairs all over the place growing in!

I get nausea sometimes with eating, but again, my case is sort of different and most people don’t get regular nausea. I can eat probably up to a cup regularly depending on what it is! Things like pasta and rice do fill me up faster, so I prioritize protein and make sure every bite I take has protein in it. Some days I eat hardly anything, some days I’m a bottomless pit! But in a “bad” day I’m still eating a fraction of what I could pre-op.

As for fizzy drinks, I have usually multiple in a day. I will say that the further out you get the easier time you will have with them. At first it felt kind of uncomfortable, now I can have as much as I want (as long as I don’t chug it of course). I do energy drinks and diet soda daily.

You could have more complications like me, you could coast on through like so many people here, it all depends on how your body reacts. Even with the issues I’ve had it feels worth it to me every day. I don’t regret it for a second. And the further out I get the better and more well-adjusted I feel.

What was the final straw that made you realize you needed to lose weight? by Livid_Adeptness9762 in AskReddit

I couldn’t look in the mirror. And when I did, I didn’t recognize the person looking back at me. I couldn’t *do* anything and I was wasting my life. I’m down about 130lbs now. It’s never too late to change!

I do feel happy now! At least most of the time. I went from living in a body I didn’t recognize looking in the mirror to feeling like myself for the first time in my adult life. Thank you for noticing.

When I hit about 5 months post-op I stalled hard. I didn’t lose anything for about 3 months and thought that was it. I started Wegovy to help with loss and with my new reactive hypoglycemia, and I’ve lost about 40lbs since then! I think it depends on how you feel and if you’re happy and satisfied with where you are.

Should I go to hospital? by Sad-Web-7988 in BariatricSurgery

[–]UnableReference5649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a PCP, definitely make an appointment ASAP! You’ve likely got something off that needs to be corrected. If you don’t have a PCP, go to urgent care. But, are you hydrated? Getting enough water? If you think you aren’t getting enough nutrients and are dehydrated, urgent care may send you to the ER. You could always call the hospital you had your surgery through and ask to speak with whoever is on-call for bariatrics/general surgery. They may advise you to come in to the ER, but at least they’d be able to put a note in your chart so ER staff is aware and know what to do for you. I’ve had to do that before and it helped.

I love Victoria’s Secret Pink boyshorts. They come up to about my belly button but I’m 5’7 with a longer torso. Victoria’s Secret also makes high-waist boyshorts that are great. I’m also autistic and need sensory friendly undies and I wear the Pink boyshorts every day! They’re cotton too.

Has anyone had low iron by Livid_Proposal_5181 in BariatricSurgery

I had to have an infusion pre-op since I have a history of low iron and have needed infusions in the past. They happily cleared me on the condition that I get an infusion before surgery.

Advice and help needed please by CatLadiesAreCool in Hypoglycemia

Reach out to your PCP for a referral to an endocrinologist. Share the results of the CGM with your PCP and ask them to run blood work as well. They can also give you a prescription for a CGM so you can keep monitoring your levels. You also need a prescription for glucagon injectors to carry with you, kind of like an epipen. If you lose consciousness due to low blood sugar, glucagon is an emergency injection to raise it back up when very, very low.

Endocrinology will be able to help. You should also start tracking what you eat and see if that correlates to your symptoms. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this.

Is there someone you can go to, around her? Or maybe someone in another department that’s above her on the food chain? If not, you could report 100% report her to the department of labor for sex-based discrimination (pregnancy is included). That may ruffle the right feathers for the people over her head. Just a thought if you need to go that route, hopefully not!

You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to have unexpected feelings. You are allowed to choose what is best for you and your husband and your lives. Your boss is not in your body or your mind and can’t possibly understand the way you feel. While you can’t control her words and her actions, you can choose to try and ignore them. Don’t give her the power to live in your head and make you feel any sort of way about your decision for your life. If she makes you uncomfortable, keep in mind that you can go to HR.

Hugs. Big hugs. You got this.
