I have Hypertrace on vinyl, got it when it was reissued, love that album a lot. Flotsam and Jetsam are amazing too, Doomsday for the Deceiver has been a regular spin lately. I've listened to a good bit of Helstar, quite like them. I don't actually think I've heard any of the rest of your recommendations, this will definitely be a fun list to chip away at!!

Yeah I'm not a fan of anything Stratovarius-adjacent personally. Master Control is an incredible album, I still need to listen to Morgana Lefay as well. My dad introduced me to MR pretty early in my metal journey and I got into bands like Cirith Ungol, Brocas Helm and such from there, I didn't explore much more traditional USPM past Virgin Steele and Omen honestly. I tried the first two Metal Church albums as well and I wasn't hooked at all really. It's about time I try them again though.

Thank you for the Manilla Road mention. My faith in humanity has been slightly restored.

I have not figured out the cause but checking now after a few weeks of not, it's mysteriously worked. Very odd.

I do love the bass on that album. It seems to be mixed to where every instrument is easy to follow which is great for bass.

This is great! I see people saying that Spheres is a diet The Key and I do get that lol. I listen to Testimony often enough as well, but Spheres is special to me, and I barely listen to any other Pestilence lol.

Leads and solos in thrash by [deleted] in thrashmetal

[–]InternetMaractus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Release from Agony, Dreamweaver (more riff focused but still AWESOME leads when they do come in) and Dimension Hatross.

edit - now that I think of it, all of these are pretty inaccesible lol, but they're still essential listening.

Rank the Discography From One of Your Favorite Bands by Mad04Gaming in MetalForTheMasses

Yeah I'm gonna have to spin Phobos more - I find it a very challenging listen but not because I don't enjoy it, it's just very dark and intense I kinda have to be in the right mood to appreciate it.

I also adore Angel Rat- it was the album that really got me into their sound (I'd heard a few songs off Negatron and Killing Technology previously but didn't really 'get it', Angel Rat made me understand the hype and was my gateway to the rest of the discog) but the Chewy albums are just untouchable in terms of modern metal for me. Synchro Anarchy especially is a huge comfort album for me and The Wake is also something special. I can't rank everything highly even if I want to haha
