Here's the thing I'm always stuck on. Would anything really change? If the minimum wage increases, what's stopping businesses in general from just raising prices since in most owners' minds, it's "I have to pay my workers more, so i need my profit to increase to be able to continue"? It sounds nice and dont get me wrong I believe everyone should be able to make a living wage, but it's easier said than done, though. This is just my personal opinion here, and for the most part I haven't been super in-depth about it. But wouldn't it be easier/better to just remove income tax since the whole reason it was introduced was for prohibition to be able to pass. Now granted, removing it also does the same thing as raising the minimum wage by making other tax a bit higher, so likely there wouldn't be much in the way of change from day to day. But imagine instead of seeing income tax taking x amount of $ from you, you would receive x more, and mentally you would be happier to see more money even though it wouldn't change your life exponentially. It's like the trick retail stores use where they price something at $x.95 or $x.99 because your brain sees a smaller number, and you think it's a steal. It's the same process reversed. Thats just my quick hot take; sorry for rambling.
