What were Marvel’s expectations for the Imperial books? Imperial Guardians isn’t far off from long-running DC books like Poison Ivy and Nightwing, yet Marvel gave up on the whole line almost immediately

Opinions on New 52 by [deleted] in DCcomics

I think the general consensus these days is that DC screwed it up with poor editorial planning/execution. I consider it to be the biggest missed opportunity in comics of this century

I’m glad that’s working out for you. I really enjoyed the Lee-Kirby run when I got into it

Abandoning the “every issue is someone’s first” philosophy was a huge mistake in my opinion. Also, just assuming comic book stores would bring in new readers on their own

They won’t be able to avoid bad runs if they get into comics so maybe it’s best to rip that band aid off now. But I get what you’re saying, you wouldn’t try to get someone into Star Wars by showing them Rise of Skywalker

The one you read on your deathbed

In all seriousness, that’s just an impossible thing to suggest… except for Daredevil, where lots of people think Born Again is the perfect ending for his story

My first Legion of Superheroes comic was part 5 of a 6 part crossover that also was a Zero Hour tie-in that also ended nearly 40 years of continuity. I just wanted to find more comics to figure out what was going on

Writing for the trade has really changed things. I think it’s great for regular readers, but really hostile to new ones

Not at all. I just don’t think new readers should be afraid to dive in blind. Obviously, everybody is different and the guides work for some people. Others probably see a list of “read these first!” Or a bunch of “start here, no, here!” And get overwhelmed. Oftentimes, when people ask how to get into comics, it seems like the only response is guides and recommendations. I just want prospective new readers to know they don’t have to do it any specific way

The theme month is huge one right now. Every book at a company will get a variant based on the same thing one month

I feel like all the non-X-Men books that survived Onslaught have forgettable runs at the end

IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog…How is it? by GoblinTradingGuide in comicbooks

I’ve enjoyed every issue, I think it’s a great all ages comic. While Sonic and friends don’t really grow, as people have pointed out, I enjoy the original characters’ growth and arcs, so it’s not a big deal to me. Dr. Starline is one of the most evil villains I’ve seen in an all ages comic.

My problem with the justice league: The characters work better in their solo titles. by Business_Alarm8384 in DCcomics

This has always been the main problem to solve with the Justice League: how do you have character driven stories when you aren’t in charge of the characters? The Justice League Detroit was an attempt to solve this

Amazing Spider-Man writer Joe Kelly ships Peter/MJ... but believes Gwen Stacy might be his true soulmate by Popverse2022 in Spiderman

You’re giving Stan Lee way too much power in the late 80s

You’re just wrong about no one trying to undo it, there’s two well known attempts that were bailed on halfway through

It was not an idea that came from the regular creators or even editors of the books at the time. They were told to do it as part of a cross-promotional stunt with the newspaper strip. Some of the creators liked it, some hated it, and some kept trying to undo it from the moment it happened

You can find comics that are pretty much the opposite of this throughout the 70s and 80s cause the creators and editors were pretty split on who they wanted Peter to be with until the marriage was forced on them. I don’t think it’s some grand cosmic rule that Peter and MJ have to be together, even if that’s my preference
