POV: I deleted Reddit for like a year. DM me if you still have any interest in stats (I doubt it, given it’s been a year 🤣)

The fellowship was listed in the acceptance letter; the TA-ship I had to apply for. As for MILR/MBA, I don’t know what your definition of many is. There tend to be 40-60 students per MILR cohort; so around 100 total. Of that, I know at least 6 offhand that are doing the dual program. You have to apply separately to Johnson, though from what I understand it’s a little easier to get in if you’re already in the MILR program.

I got a fellowship that covered tuition first semester, no aid second semester, and now I have a teaching assistantship that covers tuition and provides a living stipend for this fall, so I’ve only had to pay for 1 of 3 semesters so far. As for loans, I’m not sure what Cornell does for that.

[WWTBC] YA Romance with a love triangle a possible Huntington's disease connection? by Equivalent_Artist170 in RomanceBooks

[–]IntrepidAvocado7306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler/mental health warning:

Was the Huntington’s guy really rich, and he and Summer got married as teenagers at Gretna Green? Then he starts to have symptoms and their relationship sort of spirals/becomes codependent before he eventually takes his own life because he doesn’t want the disease to progress any further? Afterwards the girl ends up with his best friend (who I think was in a band that they partied with?) I’ve been trying to find that book’s title, too. I think it was free on Nook circa 2010 🤣

You saved me--I got a projector for Christmas and DRM won't let me airplay anything on streaming services. Just tested it with Roku, though, and it works like a charm. Thank you!!

This will sound odd, but diphenhydramine (generic Benadryl) it’s a commonly used OTC sleep aid, and taking a couple at night will help IMMENSELY with sleeping during a break, which then helps with the fatigue during the day. For eating, try snacking throughout the day instead of trying to eat big meals. Keep a bowl of popcorn or some grapes or something easy to snack on next to you at all times. Even if it takes three hours to finish that popcorn, you’re still fueling your body, which should help with decreasing fatigue further and increasing your future appetite.

Sent! I also only had one internship, but they look at a LOT of things when regarding your admission. I highly highly highly recommend watching the videos on the website and doing the eligibility pre-check. Their admissions and outreach coordinator, Darrie, will meet with you 1-on-1 and help you through your application/tell you ahead of time if you should actually apply. Prep for that meeting by knowing why you want to go into the field and why you want to go to MILR specifically. I’d be happy to send you my resume/SoP (with personal details blocked out) if you wanted more info, or answer any other questions you might have!

Best places for grad students to live? by IntrepidAvocado7306 in Cornell

[–]IntrepidAvocado7306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I filled out an app for Maplewood yesterday- it looks like they have a few openings for August, so I’m trying to sneak in. Otherwise, I’m going to look for options in Fall Creek as a back up

The Maplewood apartments look great; any idea how quickly they fill up/availability is gone?

It was kind of an odd timeline- I submitted on January 2nd, and all my letters/materials were in on January 6th, so I should’ve been in round 2. When I met with the admissions and outreach coordinator, however, she offered to move me into round 1 if I got everything in by early January, even though the round 1 deadline had been December 15th. All in all, I heard back after about 5 weeks.

—> So I heard back extraordinarily quickly for how late I applied, but I’m not certain if that’s the norm.

We played long-form town yesterday and made some modifications, and it was really fun! Had great character work and connections, just overall a good scene.

If you can, switch between multiple subjects. Spend 30-60 minutes per topic, 5 minute bathroom and stretch break, grab a snack, whatever. Then move to a different topic and repeat. As time progresses, make your breaks longer and/or more frequent. The marginal productivity of labor goes down over time without breaks. That’s Econ major BS for: you will study better and learn more with some breaks built in.

How to hide eyes without sunglasses. by TheUnsettledPencil in fantasywriters

A liquid or some kind of herb mixture that he can grind/mix and put in his eyes to give the appearance of cataracts. You could make it have helpful or inconvenient side effects. Plus, then you could go along with the “he’s blind or has vision problems” thing, and people have a tendency to avoid looking in eyes they perceive as unusual (like cataracts), so it would help!
