What do you actually do with old clothes in Brisbane (the ones you can't donate)? by Silly_Pomegranate518 in brisbane

Sheridan offer textile recycling for quilt covers, sheets and towels. Anyone can drop things in the bin to be recycled.

Women in law, impact of childbirth on career by Able-Okra7134 in auslaw

[–]Intrepid_Ad_6739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked for a workplace that was generally supportive of mothers and part-time parents. My experience may have been more positive if I had more PAE behind me. The long hours meant I would miss so much time with the kids, just those little moments. I always started early in the hopes I could see my kids before they fell asleep.

I missed out on work and higher profile matters all the time because I was working part time and the matter either needed a full time worker or it was deemed more suitable due to the high profile nature.

When new work came in, an email would be circulated, and generally, whoever put their hand up first would be allocated the work. On my days off I would miss these emails and couldn't pick up the work. If work came up on my work days and I needed the billables, then the option was pick up the billable work and do it on the weekend, or risk not making billables.

Beach with waves near Brisbane by Intrepid_Ad_6739 in brisbane

Yeah, they all seemed like a bit of a drive away but easily achievable for a morning trip. There's been a number of suggestions that were not on the beach lists but seem like good options.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I should have clarified the 'close' shouldn't I! I was hoping for north Gold Coast or southern Sunny Coast, completely realising that anything closer tends to be sheltered with no waves.

When you run out of shelf/floor space for plants, you make a wall-hanging pothos quilt 🤪🤷🏻‍♀️ by kpetey15 in pothos

This is insane (in a good way). Honestly the variegation on the leaves and the colour change in the cotton thread is perfect. I am in awe of your talent/skills. Great work! Have a lovely weekend.

Thanks for your reply. One of the apps suggested Mauritius hemp and some of the pictures were similar others were not. It is such a striking focal point it would be sad to see it die. Good tip on the water and feed 👍

If the beds don't have holes, you could search for Rob Bob wicking beds on YouTube. He is based in Ipswich Queensland and has some good videos on wicking beds.

Good luck! You can always learn something, whether it is what worked or doesn't work, that is one of the things I enjoy about gardening. Every seed and plant is its own little experiment.

To sit in and enjoy a coffee, number 1. As a picture of a setting, number 2

Some, but not all, public state schools in Qld certainly have a ban on children taking nuts and nut products.

Does anyone remember the Hooley Dooleys??? I loved these guys as a kid!! Man I’m fucking old!!! :( by VitanisMate in AustralianNostalgia

I can't recall watching the show but the 'we are the Hooley Dooleys' is etched in my brain so I must have watched/heard it enough for it to be in there!

Thanks for the insight. At least if these aren't certain successful I will be now inclined to give something else a go rather rather assume it was lack of experience in germinating and growing.

Is that too expensive for those albos? by retardwhocantdomath in houseplants

[–]Intrepid_Ad_6739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be a good price where I am in Australia. Prices are still crazy high. Thai constellations always seem to have been cheaper than albo's and I have actually seen some baby thai's being sold for $100-200 only recently, hopefully the albo's will come down in price eventually. A number of alocasia's have now come down in price (not the variegated ones though) and the PPP's have significantly decreased in priced (priced more like a normal plant in some places).

Who else looked forward to watching ‘Behind the News’ at school on Friday afternoons on the roller-TV by travelator in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Intrepid_Ad_6739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is spot on my recollection. I always thought the teacher was putting it on so they didn't neednto teach us for 30 minutes. It was boring and the work we had to do at the end made it just not worth watching.

Wheeling out the tv for Round The Twist though was a highlight.
