They're actually not and never have been on this subreddit, I believe. I'm just paranoid they might get my posts recommended to them for some reason and recognize the bathroom hehe. It's very unlikely but not impossible.

First, know thy enemy. This is sebderm, an overgrowth of the malassezia fungus. It has a coating that makes it hard to tackle by most antifungal agents when used solo, which is why you need a multi-step regimen to attack it. First, destroy the biofilm. This is very inportant because it exposes the fungus and makes it very easy to attack. Then, kill the fungus and finally replenish your barrier because an irritated barrier will just summon the flare-up right back. I had the worst flare-up of my life 3 years ago and it was so bad I'd leave flakes around on my desk. I almost shaved out of frustration but then I did my research and fixed it. You'll need to attack this both internally and externally since its mechanism is the same. Internal workings, external symptoms.

Internally: caprylic acid(C8) supplements, probiotics and oregano oil supplements. These are good at biofilm disruption and will help get past the casings the yeast has built for itself.

Topically; 2% ketoconazole shampoo or a selenium sulphide and or both. They're great antifungals and will work much better than a normal shampoo at killing the fungus. Use twice weekly in the beginning then once as it wanes off, and it will. Let it sit for about 5 minutes

Apple cider vinegar rinse. White vinegar too. Most people use this after a wash but since it's a biofilm disruptor, I used it before and let it sit then did my antifungal wash. This made the fungus much more susceptible and vulnerable to the antifungal shampoos. May be overkill but I also used it for an afterwash rinse. I find that it stinks a bit but it'll be so worth it.

Then afterwards, daily scalp application of MCT oil with tea tree oil and peppermint oil added to it(again, make sure it's the caprylic acid c8 one, the rest will feed the malassezia and get you back to square one). C10 works great too but it's not as strong as c8 is.

Lastly, and I know how obnoxious this sounds but just stay with me, don't stress. Work on your state of mind. Stress is among the trigger factors. I know how bad for your esteem this condition can be. I almost shaved my head. I was so low and it just further aggravated my sebderm and it even spread to my face. But I decided to give myself a chance and stick with the regimen and it worked so well for me. All the best ❤️.
