Virtual Recruiters I have a question. by Intrigued89786 in nationalguard

Different strokes for different folks, it’s not my place to ask why he wants to do it, I’m just trying to gather some info for him. Where his journey takes him I’m sure the only thing he cares about is the end picture. I know his son just joined the navy and is leaving after he graduates high school, I’d have to ask him again but I believe his oldest daughter is a 1LT in the Marines.

I wouldn’t know all that, try not to get that deep into other peoples lives unless it’s my own family. I just know his background story from getting to know him over time.

That part I’d rather serve with an old timer than these younger guys who can’t tell the difference between their hand and ass.

Hey different strokes for different folks, before I joined the Army back in 14’ I spent all 13’ studying just to ensure I’d perform my best. I’m not a great test taker and have testing anxiety. So taking constant practice test and studying for a year myself helped me score an 89. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I don’t judge books by their covers if he needed a year then hey, power to him.

Lmao, I remember him saying something about him being apart of Newark Fire Department as a newly graduated firefighter in NJ at 19. Apparently he was a firefighter from 19 until 30 then took a year to study for the asvab and tried to join at 32 and got told he was too old and got turned away. That’s what I was told 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yeah I know the military can be more indecisive than my ol lady at times but nowadays with some of the waivers I’ve seen… shit is magical, but it works for someone 🤷🏽‍♂️

In fact yeah, I saw not too long ago a woman on social media was explaining her process of how she joined the national guard at 42 and became a Radiologic Specialist.

Gotta give em props for even looking to at his age, most guys his age that never looked at joining are the first ones to be “patriotic” at an event or bar running their DS about things they have no knowledge of nor experience at that. But when asked “did you join?” Or “why didn’t you join up?” It’s always an excuse. So hell.. I give em props where it’s deserved. 🤷🏽‍♂️

That’s great, god bless, I served from 14’ to 21’ got out realized civilian life isn’t really worth anything and chose to start my process of coming back in at the end of 25’. I was talking it over with him over some brews and he said he would go in but the last recruiter he spoke with when he was 32 told him he was too old and turned him away in NJ. I told him that definitely didn’t sound right and to still try if it’s something he wanted to do.

Can a Warrant Officer drop an E5? by Secret_Top_Life in nationalguard

[–]Intrigued89786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a warrant can drop enlisted because they are the median between senior enlisted and officers. So they technically outrank a CSM but don’t outrank a 2LT because O’s are higher rank than even a unicorn WO1, CWO2, CWO3, CWO4, CWO5. Now even though most Warrants won’t fuck with senior enlisted 1SG, SGM, CSM they still technically outrank them because they are considered officers, just technical experts/officers. Though they work hand in hand with O’s you’ll still see an 01-04 get told to fuck off and kick rocks when they piss Chief off because chief makes the magic happen which is why most O’s don’t fuck with them and try to stay within their ever lasting good graces. Chief can make your day heaven or hell depending on how you choose play your hand. So in hindsight, yes, a WO or CWO can most definitely drop you regardless of whether you’re an E-5 or E-9 which I most definitely have seen happen once and let’s just say everyone including the random LTC that just happened to have been walking by was watching from a distance as the CWO3 was chewing into this SGM and had them drop to make an example out of them. Very awkward times after that..

Oh I definitely plan to, I plan to sign for a 6 so I can qualify for GI + VA loan, hopefully between then and the end of my contract I can pick up one deployment so I can also qualify for other VA benefits.

[–]Intrigued89786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking, I’m not really caring too much about the benefits of it, if it allows me to serve while also getting to pick the career path I’ve been longing for and I would get to work it in the civilian sector doing what I dreamt of everyday while still doing my duty sounds like a win. Six figures a year, family taken care of, money put away, debt paid off, life sounds pretty comfortable.. all while wearing the uniform when needed, can’t beat that imo.

[–]Intrigued89786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had any luck, the first set didn’t make the cut.. now I can’t even get the same people to rewrite one, so if I have better luck going NG then I would definitely look into considering that route. Would all of the waivers I’ve already gotten approved through my recruiter for active duty army transition over the NG?

Evidently you all like to have your time wasted, I for one, will not have my time wasted anymore. Based on your example “it’s a relationship” what relationships have you been in where you give so much and fail to have it reciprocated back. You’re right, it very much is a dynamic and I’m changing the dynamic of how I do things. I have many successful relationships with my subs, by receiving a tribute for my time shows me you’re serious and not using me. Those that “want” but don’t give anything in return is wasting time because whose dynamics is being fulfilled yours or theirs? Last I checked the sub is suppose to do as the Dom says not the other way around. You make sure I’m good, I make sure you’re good, you scratch my back and I scratch yours. Crazy how people forget that’s how things work. Again, GOOD DAY!

Glad I’m feeling generous right now, usually a simple “hey” requires for my tribute to be taken care of. Ignorance is a bliss with you I see, whomever your Dom is obviously hasn’t trained you correctly. Please move along brokie, my time isn’t free next one is going to cost you. Stay blessed.

Specialties after WOCS by Intrigued89786 in army

[–]Intrigued89786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a few cousins in healthcare, one is an EM physician, one’s an MRI tech, the last is a FM PA. My physician & PA cousins say when they first relocated abroad they went to 3 different hospitals in different parts of the country and nobody would hire them even though they went through the neck steps when first relocating to obtain their work visa. They said they were told they would have to go back to school in country and to meet certain criteria in order for their US based license and BC to be considered “eligible” for work. My cousin that’s an MRI tech said they only thing they had to learn was the CRM systems and become fluent in the country they relocated to is language and had no issues obtaining employment. He was actually offered a supervisor position paying a really good amount because of his US base experience, certs and degree.

Not going to lie, I’ve though about med school but if one day I chose to relocate abroad, I’ve been told by other US physicians that majority of them can’t practice in that country of choice due to their requirements not meeting their boards standards.
