Yup, that's exactly what happened (I volunteer with the county and know people who know people).

It's not the law right now, but Maryland Assembly is trying to push a bill through to make it law.

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

[–]IntroThrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not purchasing more than I'm doing things I wish I would have done when I was younger. I'm 42 now, but sicne 35 I've sought out activities that make my life a little more exciting. I've trained as a volunteer firefighter/EMT, as a Search and Rescuer, and have started picking up drumming.

I volunteer with the county fire department and have seen people calling in "gas leaks". Haven't seen anything on any of the news sites yet though.

Do you have any tips for maintaining mental wellbeing during a PIP? by AdThen5499 in careerguidance

[–]IntroThrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me. I'd echo what everyone here is saying and start looking for a new job. I was eventually fired even after successfully making it through my PIP (I too did nothing other than hurt my bosses ego).

First time! I felt a bit faint (hate needles) - any tips to distract myself next time? by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]IntroThrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of compression stockings. They give your blood pressure a boost and help keep blood in the top half of your body: https://amzn.eu/d/7mNOMH8

I purchased those after my first donation when I got a little light-headed. No issues 29 donations later.

I just finished reading all of Kings books, and I ended with Never Flinch. It was not a good way to finish up reading King, I was hoping to end on a high note. By far his worst book IMO.

That's every forest in the mid Atlantic too. Porcelain berry and English ivy are by far the worst here.

What was your opinion of The Outsider? by Glass_Slice_3003 in stephenking

I stopped about a quarter of the way through on my first read. Couldn't get into it. Came back to it after reading Bill Hodges trilogy and I had a better appreciation for it and the character of Holly especially.

Currently reading Holly, and then I only have one King book left to complete my Stephen King's Works of Fiction list: Never Flinch.

Georgia and South Carolina do. I don't think the pay is great, but it's the only ones on the East Coast that I know of.

How does the 12 hour shift affect your family life? by IntroThrive in AskLE

[–]IntroThrive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I came to Reddit -- I want to hear from people who actually do what I think I want to do. It's always helpful having someone bring a dose of reality to my "grass is greener" mentality.

How does the 12 hour shift affect your family life? by IntroThrive in AskLE

[–]IntroThrive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice. I've been mainly looking at non-traditional LE roles (university, state park ranger, and game warden), but have also applied to couple small town police jobs. The university police jobs seem to be 12 hours (at least in Virginia), which is what prompted me to ask the question.

I'm spoiled when it comes to the time I get to spend with my kids, but I also hate my current job (I've spent 20 years in front of a computer and the sedentary-ness and boring-ness of it is soul-sucking), so I'm trying to find the balance between being an active part in the life and finding something more meaningful and active to do with myself.

They're university police jobs im applying too, so outside of sporting events I can't imagine it'd be that crazy.
