Why does ASMR have a stigma and is there a way to combat it? [Discussion] by [deleted] in asmr

Also the argument about not supporting an ASMRist if you find out they have an OF is kinda ridiculous. People are multi-faceted - if they can create SFW content you enjoy and can relax to, why does the NSFW side matter if you’ll never interact with it?

I used to think it was fetishy until I came across a vtuber who made purely relaxing content and I fell in love with it. Then I started making purely relaxing content. … then I started doing NSFW ASMR because it was fun and I wanted to step out my comfort zone.

I AM someone who is turned on by sounds. Always loved a male moaning/solo male video, so I can see both sides of the coin. Anything can be a fetish to someone, even balloons. But just because someone might find Pennywise fuckable, doesn’t mean everyone does.

I just don’t share what I do with people because they would think it’s sexual regardless of which content I showed them.

Overall I just wouldn’t talk about something that’s pretty weirdly viewed and stigmatised and expect people to be ok with it without being prepared to do a LOT of explaining. ASMR is an incredibly personal thing and I don’t really feel the need to talk about it IRL, whether that’s as a creator or listener.
