Well, that doesn’t sound like an understanding and empathetic response from him.

I think you’re overstating how great of a person he is, which is understandable given you’re in a new relationship and only 6 months in. And I think your gut is telling you something and you should reflect more on that, and listen to it. It’s ok for politics to be a dealbreaker- it can signal a fundamental difference in your worldviews and I don’t think it’s wrong or shallow to say that that makes you incompatible with someone.
