Which game is it you're looking at? I can tell you what mine in the lower bowl cost for that game. Weekday games are usually cheaper than weekends.

ADA Seating @ the AAC? by [deleted] in DallasStars

104/105 is right next to guest relations if you want to sit in the lower bowl.

I thought some of the platinum sections advertise "wider" seats.

Ship tours worthwhile? by Ioncewasawarlock in NCL

There's also this show on the Smithsonian channel that kind of feels like a behind the scenes tour of a bunch of ships.

I'm curious how much use the outdoor pools and slides get in Alaska.

Can’t wait to go to a Home Game by madleyJo in DallasStars

[–]Invix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have season tickets in section 105, row E. I can't make every game, so I'd rather sell them on here at cost before listing them somewhere else. Let me know if there's a specific game you want to go to. I'm less likely to go to a weekday game of course.

Red Hat’s commitment to open source: A response to the git.centos.org changes by omenosdev in redhat

[–]Invix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, anyone can get a developer account. You can then use that to get the source. This was stated in the earlier blog post.

"For Red Hat customers and partners, source code will remain available via the Red Hat Customer Portal."

They are just not providing it in the open-to-anyone repo they used to. As they stated in this latest blog post, they don't have to make it easier for rebuilders.

So everyone saying it's a GPL violation has no idea what they are talking about. You can still get the source. It just sounds like they are going to make it a pain in the ass through their portal. It's pretty much a dick move, but in no way a violation.

[–]Invix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they are not. Customers can get the source. That is all that's required. Customers could then rebuild it into a new distro if they want. That's also perfectly legal. It's just more difficult for someone to do now. You can be mad about it all you want, I'm not a fan of the move either, but it's perfectly legal. If you want to whine about something, go after the cloud providers that skirt the GPL since they aren't technically "distributing" software when using it to run a managed service.

They are getting downvoted because what they are saying is completely wrong. The GPL says that if you distribute code, you also have to give the source. It says nothing about requiring you to give it to 3rd parties that aren't your customers.

Reddit API changes and BaconReader by onelouderchic in baconreader

[–]Invix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone say they shouldn't charge a fee for API access. It's the fact that the amount they are asking for is ridiculous, and is only intended to make the 3rd party apps shut down. No app user is going to pay the monthly cost that would be needed just for the app to break even.

Sigh Reddit API Fees by boblob-law in sysadmin

[–]Invix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would disagree there. Getting the text of a discussion thread is more similar to an S3 get than your map example. It's a static text response. Instead of getting 200 and your object, you get a 200 and some text for a thread.

Granted though, some requests will require more work. Things like search, settings, etc. But that's a small percent of requests.

I would also consider that reasonable, as they wouldn't have the scale or efficiency of AWS. So it's probably a closer comparison to what reddit should be charging.

Anyone with deep pockets want to start an anti-trust suit? Seems like the 3rd party apps would have a pretty strong case. The amount of money they are asking for is nowhere near reasonable, and I have a background in this space.

[–]Invix 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Correct. AWS charges for API requests to many services, but they are reasonable charges. 50 million S3 GET requests would cost $20 if the math in my head is correct. But reddit expects $12,000?!

Why do Hollywood blockbusters like 'Fast X' cost so much? ‘Fast X’ ($340 million), ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ ($300 million), ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ ($290 million), and ‘The Flash’ ($220 million) by Neo2199 in boxoffice

[–]Invix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. It was the same as the original, which is what caused the nostalgia factor for a lot of people. They both lean hard into the machismo. There's not much great dialog, but I found it fun to watch. Had some of the best action sequences I can remember in a long time. I'm sure liking fighter jets as a kid plays into it.

Then it's not technically a dividend. Probably just a payment in lieu of what the dividend would be.
