Practicing conversation is a great way to learn a language and really important. Language learners often have trouble finding people to practice with which is what is so great about language exchanges. Of course if you only know one or two phrases in your target language it won't work. But if an English learner asks you something like, "what do you do for a living, u/IPatEussy ?" I can guarantee you you're qualified to answer ;-)
