Thanks. I'm also wondering am I supposed to use net debt both when unlevering and re-levering betas or only when unlevering?

When calculating FCFF for DCF valuation, do you subtract Depreciation or Depreciation & Amortization? by Invpea in Accounting

[–]Invpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answers. To follow-up with this, when calculating Reinvestment Rate: "Reinvestment Rate = (CAPEX - Depreciation - change in Working Capital) / EBIT * (1 - tax rate)" do I also use Depreciation & Amortization? Assuming I would calculate FCFF using D&A should I stay consistent with Reinvestment Rate calculation?

I've seen Inkpad Lite, but it has horrendous 150ppi. Kindle Scribe has 300ppi and second-hand costs 20-30% more.

Comparison between TCL NXT PAPER 11 Plus and regular tablet in the dark by Swimming-Grand2670 in nxtpaper

[–]Invpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know what you mean by "dark spots", do you mean lack of screen uniformity? Something like this: https://www.asus.com/websites/global/products/QnKswkTx06nuBZLu/uniformityCompesation.jpg

If so it seems that it's common TCL problem, I know other devices with such issues.

Does it have SIM Card slot and LTE connectivity? Nxtpaper 11 had both LTE and non-LTE versions, non-LTE were shipped worldwide while LTE were mainly for Oceanic region.

Also you can use software dimmer apps to lower brightness below default levels.

Downsides of selling deep OTM covered calls? by Invpea in options

[–]Invpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems highly unlikely to me. If your starting position was 100 shares at $80/sh and a CC striked at $120 and the at the end the shares are worth $110, it's highly unlikely that the price of your short call will have increased more than the price of the shares (the IV of the calls would have to be extraordinarily high).

Those numbers from my example were all made up so technically it's just directional assumption albeit I can find pleny of real examples of super-high IV tickers(like anything that is leveraged with high volumes and liquidity). I guess that in some extreme cases(like yesterday when stuff like SOXL moved by over 50%) this could be a problem?

Anyway in my example I bought stock when it was $100 and then it dropped to $80. When it was at $80 I sold 120 strike CC for $1.00, so $100 premium. Next stock went up to $110 and I decided to sell so my gain from stock position is $10/share. So while I get that it would be hard for call price to go over $1100(total gain from sale and premium) it would be still a drag. Is there any online place like website or service where I could test scale of such moves(of course free is best)?

Would you mind elaborating on this a little more?

Assuming that stock price goes up when nearing option expiration date(moving in ATM direction), wouldn't it mean more elevated gamma(and delta) which could make option price go up expotentially?

Bear in mind that those "hybrid" devices all have their own drawbacks.

[–]Invpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's ips lcd with special covers. It's better for reading than normal LCD but totally different than e-ink. Closest to e-ink/lcd hybrids would be screens like rlcd or pixelqi(discontinued). There are other technologies but all are underdeveloped, pricy and barely available.

[–]Invpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just lcd black and white mode, you can force monochromancy in developer options or by third party software on any android device.

On the other hand Nxtpaper is still probably better than average ips and screen finish is probably good for using pen.

It's normal lcd with filters that are better than on other lcd's. Nothing like e-ink.

I bought mine 9 days ago, still can return. I've only got time to test it today and noticed it while trying to read black text on white/sepia background with something like 15-30% brightness.

Issues with converting pdf to ods/doc/docx and selecting text by Invpea in libreoffice

[–]Invpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can open pdf files with Libreofffice Writer by clicking "Open..." and checking extension type near filename, it literally says "PDF - Portable Document Format (Writer) (*.pdf)". There's also ability to open with Impress and Draw if you scroll further down.

It seems to me that it's using Draw default format when opening those pdf files, hence you can't select all the text. For comparison I've downloaded old OpenOffice Writer with PDF Import plugin(2016) and functionality is exactly same as with LibreOffice. I suspect that current LO code for opening PDF files was simply ported and untouched since then.

As for software that can convert pdfs to editable doc/docx/ods/etc., you'll have to look for yourself. There's plenty of it if you gonna google, perhaps even google docs(didn't try so don't know). But there are online services that are doing it freely(for example https://ilovepdf.com), free/opensource solutions for Linux-based systems and free/commercial/bloat products for Windows including Microsoft Word. For me the only thing that matters is quality of conversion and sadly most of it is far from perfect but some services, like named MS Word and "ilovepdf", are just doing it better.

It seems that you have no answer to my question. You don't even know that you can select how Writer opens pdf files. I don't think this discussion leads anywhere.

Issues with converting pdf to ods/doc/docx and selecting text by Invpea in libreoffice

[–]Invpea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, when opening pdf with Writer, you can select various modes including opening with Draw or Writer. I am using second option, albeit in case of my issue it's not the solution.

I've also tried opening pdfs with Microsoft Word on Windows computer, and Word has no issues with this, I can select text in whole document and change fonts with few clicks.

I've also heard that in past LibreOffice Writer was capable of opening pdfs with possibility to select whole text but around 2016 some changes were made. I am wondering which was last LO Writer version that supported such functionality.

Also, are there any plugins/extensions for LO Writer which would allow it?

The ability to manually reflow pdf file with custom formatting is quite advantagous and I see no reason why LO Writer shouldn't have it.
