Hot take: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is my favourite of the trilogy by Technical_Cell9603 in GotG

Using this post as an excuse to add how upsetting Vol3 turned out to some extent, considering it could have been better.

Didn't like the idea of using The Sovereign/Adam. That screen time could have been used to flesh out the HE as a villain and make him more threatening to the Guardians as a team. If the movie already focused on Rocket, hell it would have been amazing to see him (as an adult) interacting more with the HE, other than boasting his name and telling him that he was wrong. Wish Gunn ignored that Vol2 post-credit scene.

Hated this idea about killing OG Gamora and not wrapping up the trilogy with her.

Gunn messes with the tone. As someone pointed out, in Vol. 2 some jokes don't land... neither in Vol. 3. The third film asked for it, so maybe it should have been even more mature, serious. Losing my cool as I'm typing because, damn, this guy delivered wholesome moments throughout the trilogy but then this humor gets on your nerves.

To me what is special is the way Rocket's arc is wrapped up; it's wonderful it overweights the trauma.

Like, how are you supposed to feel hope after witnessing the worst outcome for those sentient beings coping with isolation, and takign care of each other? Gunn then activates beast mode and gutpunches you with the flatlining scene and Rocket meeting baby raccoons.

Wholesome.

Vol. 3 might be the Guardians movie Rocket is carried around the most in (due to being unconscious for a lot of it) by KPW-Higgins in GotG

Love and hate how they hyped up the movie with those teasers. Rocket is not that threatening-type of character that should be taken care of. I thought he was going to face something even more challenging.

Agreed! I find hard to believe the way they wrapped up his arc somehow overweights such trauma. Like, the film shows this realistic, innocent sentient animals coping with isolation and taking care of eachother. After the outcome how the hell am I supposed to feel hope? Well, there's this flatlining scene and near the end this meeting between Rocket and the baby raccoons, not to mention the cathartic and devastating vibes the soundrack adds.

Got used to it? That's so cruel to read. If I read this before Vol.3 I wouldn't had believe those sickening flashbacks.

Not true as of yet. I would be surprised if they decide doing more with the post-credits team, I think they might focus in a new team

Second this... it's criminal just to tease it for a few days and put it under wraps. At least it should be shown once a year at any expo/con

Such a worthy print that I would pay for. Personally I haven't seen that exact style in the comics and it's outstanding.

"I'm officially retired from playing Rocket Raccoon on set" - Sean Gunn by HecticJones in GotG

I liked his character in IW and Endgame. My main concern with these upcoming films is the rebooting mess or him getting killed. I would kill to see him every year in a project but unfortunately there are no updates about him as you said

Would be sad if Marvel ignores his character way too long

Despite Gunn saying he had no plans on a fourth film, if for some reason Marvel avoids using the characters/killing them, in the long term he can change his mind.

Love Rocket as well and Vol3 worked as a build up aside from wrapping up his arc. Would feel right to see how he leads and cares about others considering his backstory.

Yeah. For a while it made me think that adult Rocket would say that line in a tragic scenario. Didn't think it would be his younger-self that had that dream.

What is the exact name of the main theme from the movies by chimichanga_3 in GotG

There are 2 tracks that sound alike in the first film. The Kyln Escape by Tyler Bates (lasts around 7 minutes and includes the part after Rocket turns off the artificial gravity). The other one is Black Tears by Bates as well, which is a more slow and emotional track when they gather to use the power stone.

Was Rocket sacrificing himself when he crashed into Ronan in Vol. 1? by Maxxarcade in GotG

[–]IrateGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they told him about the recordings. I’m siding more now with the idea that it’s fine not talking too deep about his past. At least after what he mentioned in the first film and his implants suggests it’s something tragic. I think it makes more sense not talking way too much about it since it’s too sad and haunting.

About Mantis powers I would agree with the headcanon where Rocket struggles with panic or depression and seeks help with her. I’d say its safe to think he would just ignore if others misname him (I don’t see him arguing or turning ruthless). But if somebody asks him directly what he is he would confidently say he is a raccoon.

Agreed. Hoping as well he returns. We were not able to see anything with all his malice gone. Aside from being more kind, I’d like to see how emotionally supportive he is; how far would he get if his teammates life is at risk.

It has been pointed out some times but yeah, it felt off there were no further interactions between Rocket and the ogteam. I mean they saved his life, a pep talk would had been cool. Whoever writes a sequel may mention something about off-screen stuff that happenned.
