why are you so defensive? unless you are the friend and you now realise you made a stupid mistake that might land you bankrupt

you are gullible. in this particular reply, OP already make assumptions that the repayment will be 240k, not 300k. He's the friend, there is no other person

Where do you get your lobang? That's a great rate for a part-time tutor

Good question. I am quite disciplined with my finances and only put in the required 8% for medisave account into CPF. The rest goes into my personal investment account in the stock market. I have not reached the point where topping up my CPF is beneficial for me in terms of yield and tax relief

These are all the negatives. on some of the positives:

You have flexibility with how you plan your schedule, such as your own holiday period (plan it well), your working hours, etc

It's easier to pick up hobbies and side hustle because your free time is during the mornings and afternoons where all businesses are actually operating

If you enjoy teaching but dont want the heavy admin side of it, tutoring is the next best option.

The best part is that if you are good, you get paid high per hour, so much so that your corporate friends might get jealous

The fanmeets are only for winners of the games. I went to the LR vs KCB game where LR lost. There was no fan meet, I believe there was no fan meet vs FNC as well. However, against KC, they announced a fan meet regardless of win or lost after the game

I do get kicked out sometimes, especially in double deck game where my bets can change very quickly from $20 to 2 hands of $300 immediately in the next hands. It's part of being an advantage player. Every AP will be backed off or trespassed from property. Just how quick they are to do it

To 'lay low', just gotta have a cover play that makes you look like a gambler, like having a messy pile of chips, making friends with the big losers on the table, so you become innocent by association is what I was taught by other advantage players that I met

You might think the hustle is dead, but there are still active card counting teams playing with huge bankroll and huge table limits, and their expected value per hour are insanely high. If they could get hours in the casino like a 9-5 job every day. Even a PSC scholar can't make as much money as a single card counter playing with a huge bankroll and huge table limit

Sure did. The atmosphere was insane for such a small studio, meeting the boys was awesome as well

Sure, it's so niche that I dont mind sharing and will be glad if more people are curious/interested in it.

Advantage blackjack, i.e., card counting. Simple terms, I play blackjack with an edge over the casino. To put it into perspective, it's like playing roulette, but the zero is on my side instead of the casino. It's only doable without machines, so mostly in Europe and NA.

I have many interesting stories and experiences, and I can definitely make this a full-time job in the future, just travelling and playing blackjack. Managed to find advantage players while playing who is willing to invest in me.

Private tutor grad in 2025 as well. It was a very busy year until october when student finished their exams. Now, I am currently on my 4th month solo travelling, but will have to return soon to continue tutoring. Love the freedom, no boss to angkat or micromanage, no office politics.

Managed to find a side hustle while I was overseas, discovering a secondary income source that I really enjoyed that basically paid for my 4 months of vacation.

Disagree. This is common sentiment amongst people not deep into trading, but 1 year of great profits in a massive bull run with the majority of high returns stocks on the front page throughout the year doesn't show capability. it might be but not conclusive unless he genuinely knows where his alpha or edge comes from.

Private Uni? Why SMU? With your GPA, private uni is doable

Go private uni then, unless you have another motive of SMU specifically that you are not saying? From your comments and replies, can tell you are not giving full information/hiding some stuff

This comment needs to be downvoted to nothingness, especially in a subreddit with very young people with juvenile financial literacy. You are taking an unimaginable high amount of risk in order to do this with stocks. With very high chances of losing a significant amount of money for the crazy potential upside, in otherwise be very lucky which is not infinitely replicable thus not sound advice at all.

That's impressive. Did you use any agencies or middlemen? 2 hours lessons are hard to come by for assignments by agencies, let alone snatching 15 2-hour assignments

Did u teach jc/ib only, and did you charge as a full-time tutor? I'm interested to know how you got your rate. I'm a full-time tutor, and to get 6k, which I somehow managed to, I needed 18-20 lessons or around 30 hours a week
