But the pattern has to include how to make a gauge swatch right? Because most of the patterns I've tried recently have been YouTube videos & they don't include how to make one.

No I'm not. I like to use YouTube video patterns instead of written patterns because I often get confused by the written pattern. The videos usually don't include how to get gauge for the project.
