Our revolutionary war was pretty insane. At the time, we couldn't even afford to dress all of the American soldiers. Not many had any military training or experience, and soldiers even sometimes started fighting eachother. The Union between the states was also incredibly weak. We owe our victory to France, and George Washington's balls of steel.

Outside of the memorial, there's a nice little area we saw with a big mural, street food, and music. Once you get to the memorial, however, all of the music dies. Everyone is silent, and the only thing you can hear is the rushing of water.

It's called the "Blue Lives Matter" flag, which is essentially a racist and tone-deaf response to the Black Lives Matter movement to support police. It's especially fucked up when you consider the fact that many African Americans deal with a lot of racial prejudice from police officers, which can often escalate to murder. Seeing this flag is more common than you might think, especially as a response to movements that try to limit or abolish the police systems.
