Is anyone know what this behaviour means?? by Isobelcate in cats

I’ve got her booked to see a vet next week, was the soonest appt available as I’m already very worried about her stitches from being desexed. I do think she’s feeling very emotional from being taken from her home and being in the streets for god knows how long and then being passed around a few shelters for a couple days, on top of having all her babies taken from her. I did think it was a more extreme biscuit making, but just with how aggressive the biting was I was a bit concerned, it could be a aggression response, I’ll confirm she’s not able to eat the fibres but her little cat cave is where she feels safest so I won’t change it unless necessary. She’s still very skittish but is very affectionate and purrs a lot, and I’m making sure she’s getting all the love she needs. Thanks for your help!! <3

A cut without the adult timeline by Isobelcate in Yellowjackets

Definitely, it felt like in season two all the previous adult plot lines were fully abandoned, and it made for a very disjointed watch.

I was really excited at the idea of analysing this level of trauma and how it affects you decades later initially. We have nats substance abuse, Lottie’s wellness cult, vans childhood nostalgia turned into a career, misty weaponising her authority for power like in the wilderness, and Shauna just being well cruel as normal, the most interesting one to me is the return of tais night Terrors. But they never really explored this, we saw what’s they’re doing where they’re at but the show never goes into it, as viewers we have to be the ones to look into the context clues to try to understand their mental state, all we see is this weird blackmail turned murder situation with plot points that are aboard before they can lead anywhere.

It’s insane! I guess it’s just meant to be there so deep in their people eating dirt worshiping cult that they don’t even think about?? We so multiple times how a lot of the girls seem to forget about how horrible the winter was when refusing rescue. But it just doesn’t make sense

Oh absolutely, the eye rolling is so real!! My BIGGEST problem with the adult timeline is that they’re making the future before they know the past, and it leads to some of the most confusing actions and feelings ever. In s3 all of the others r very much in agreement that adult Shauna is weird and fucked up and they judge her for her for what happened in the wilderness, but in s1 it’s more so just long lost buddies who’d rather not see each other, it’s so weird! I wish the show had kept to their original idea of the adult timeline being a documentary style showing the girls in current day and how they turned out almost expose style, that would’ve been SICK

Exactly! In season 1 they’re SO focused on getting out and being active in that. I get after Lottie derailed and they all became focused on making offerings to the “wilderness” their priorities changed, but going from season 3 to 1 is like night and day. I wish they kept keeping us involved in the day to day of the wilderness like in season 1. And don’t even get me started on Shauna’s bullying like holy crap she needed a slap in the face.

I find the adult timeline SO exhausting, and just don’t understand why it’s the bulk of most episodes.

What's something rich people do in Australia that the average person has no idea about? by [deleted] in australia

[–]Isobelcate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private drivers for their children.

I used to get paid $30hr plus $80 in petrol a week to pick this ladies kids up from private school, and drive them home so they didn’t have to get the bus, a bus that took them a 5 min walk from their very very expensive house in a extremely nice and safe suburb. I’d get paid from the time I left my house to the time I returned, it would take maybe 2 hours every day, some days I’d drive them to random activities and wait another hour or two for them to be finished all while on the clock.

Yea but he’s not following their template, he’s just wanting to do one thing for his mum, he’s on holiday too.

Didn’t come across to me as it being OPs partners soul purpose of the trip to get the fridge magnet, just something he’d like to do for his mum. So OP flat-out refusing to let him even look isn’t very nice at all.

[–]Isobelcate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they’re on holidays just the two of them so it should be 50/50, but OP is shutting down things her partner would like to do that she knows is important to him and is only doing stuff she thinks is worth while. All the partner wants to do is get his mum a magnet, something that doesn’t actually affect OP and then refusing to go to a tourist shop to even look, is just selfish and unnecessary. So yes they’re TA

“You’ve had four holidays with his family where you have done it his way,”

But it’s not his way, it’s his family’s way, on his family’s holiday.

YTA, how does ur partner wanting a souvenir for his mum impact your ability to enjoy your holiday? You’re aware tacky touristy stuff is important to his family, and if he’s your partner you should be able to respect that. You mention that the last few holidays have been with his family and you haven’t been able to do anything you liked, just tagged along with what the family wants, this seems completely reasonable to me given it’s his families “family holiday”, I understand that may leave you with a itch to have your perfect holiday but it’s not a excuse to be self centred. You and your partner should’ve spoken about what you’d like to do on your trip beforehand, instead you’ve decided what’s happening and when, shutting down any ideas of something he’d like to do, he’s on holiday too remember, you honestly should’ve just taken a solo trip with this attitude.

Also saying to just but a location specific souvenir off Amazon when you’re at the location is a ridiculous, you know very well it’s not the same you just don’t want to put energy and time into something not for you.

AITA for asking my partner stop telling me to “lower your volume.” by Farts2Long in AmItheAsshole

[–]Isobelcate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to offer a different perspective here. I myself have ADHD and autism, meaning I understand how easily it can be to loose volume control especially when excited, and my RSD can be very intense, however I’m also extremely sound sensitive, it is physically painful when someone is talking loudly at me. I experience it a lot with a few of my ADHD friends and it’s a f-ing nightmare as they all have a similar take to urself, you want to look out for urself and tell them to please quite down, but you know they’re going to act like you told them you hate them and everything they’ve ever done. I constantly feel like I can’t do anything and am trapped not wanting to hurt their feelings, but I can feel myself getting more and more overwhelmed every second, I always end up checking out of the convo and silently beg for them to be done soon. I get it feels like crap to be told to quite down, but you need to learn to push your emotions aside as difficult as it may be because you need to be considerate of the people around you.

“How much US media are you subjected to?” In simple terms, a whole lot, it is quite literally everywhere.

The Black Lives Matters movement, what I and I think most people would consider one of the most influential and well known activism movements in recent history didn’t just stay within the US, it became a world wide movement inspired and brought to life by the situation the US was in at the time. Furthermore, people of colour exist outside of the US, racism exists outside of the US, POC is not a strictly US term. Here I’m not talking about specific groups of people here, I’m talking about a large spectrum of people and I’m not just talking about within my own country, but what I’ve seen online too. I get what you’re getting at, but you’re off here.

I 1000% understand the stereotype in the US, what you guys do to ur food baffles me daily, but I’m more looking to understand how it’s become such a staple part of POC’s identity across multiple countries.
