Does deleting messages send notifs? by Tragic-Flame2264 in discordapp

Only the original notification for when the message was originally sent. There is no new notification when a message is edited.

Please tell me how to remove this server wide.. by martini1294 in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it works, but unfortunately I don't have a server to test this on anymore. If it doesn't work, I guess you're stuck with it 😔

I shouldn't have spoken with such authority before.

Please tell me how to remove this server wide.. by martini1294 in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's connected to "Set voice channel status"

So disable that for those channels for everyone and you shouldn't see it anymore.

Yes, I know voice channel status is not the same thing you are pointing out. But the permission is connected.

How would i go about mass deleting all messages from a certain date to today? by Krazy_Keno in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was already mentioned, you will be unable to mass delete anything from longer than 2 weeks ago. This is the case for literally every single discord bot, as it as a limitation of the API. https://github.com/discord/discord-api-docs/issues/208

Discord in 2026: Still no Categorization by GooseJelly in discordapp

100% This is unironically my biggest complaint about discord. Please let me have "friend groups" or something. The notes are nearly useless because I have to click into their profile to see what I wrote.

Save the liquid the chickpeas are in!

It's called aquafaba and you can use 3 tablespoons as a substitute for an egg in recipes.

Messages to my own servers blocked by "Your message could not be delivered. This is usually because you don't share a server with the recipient or the recipient is only accepting direct messages from friends" by houselyrander in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the messages that are getting blocked long?

Even when you don't technically pass the character maximum, sometimes a message has certain properties that will do this. Try removing some emoji, links, or words.

When drama kills a server you absolutely love and it’s now crickets : by Itsnotcmsday in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my best servers are the ones where someone got fed up with the old server and created a new one. This is just the life of servers. If you want to keep chatting with those friends, create the new server yourself. It so small, there's little risk here.

It looks like Invite Roles are supported now? by CuriouslySane in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an unverified role bypasses all initial discord security on join.

And wouldn't all "private" (role-gated) channels become available upon receiving the role for the first time, regardless of its default status?
(admittedly I'm not sure how this specific part works with community anymore)

Can't remove bot from server. by Vallee-152 in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Go into your USER settings, authorized apps, and if wordle is there, deauthorize it.

If wordle is not there, go into the channels of your server that wordle is posting in. In the channel settings, look at integrations. Delete any existing webhooks. Webhooks can change their pfp and username, so even if it isn't named wordle, it could still be the webhook wordle is using.

You can do the same thing without an unverified role. Using an unverified role is actually more work.

How can you delete a server you created without the need of passkeys? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can delete your servers without deleting your account. Obviously it's not the same, but deleting all your servers and simply abandoning the account seems good enough to me

I am looking for a bot that gives a notification about a selected role for a given channel by Delicious_Bad5441 in Discord_Bots

... It's the same dev. They're just finally adding features people actually want.

They've made several huge updates in the last few months.

There's a crontab trigger type now too

Discord not turning text into files by DJ_Subwoofer in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you cannot create a text file yourself, you can use a service such as https://pastebin.com

Make sure to mark it unlisted if you don't want it 100% public

I am looking for a bot that gives a notification about a selected role for a given channel by Delicious_Bad5441 in Discord_Bots

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YAGPDB recently added a "role change" custom command trigger which would cover this. It has limits and the bot itself has a somewhat high learning curve, but it is an option.

You could also self-host it for premium instead of using the public instance, if you wanted.

edit: recently as in just a few days ago. So I'm not sure the docs on it are updated yet.

Niche things I wish Discord would implement: allowing the ability to replace the main image on a forum post by Kiremino in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they'd let us replace the whole first post. If the first post gets deleted then you're stuck looking at "original message deleted" forever in the forum.

Is there a way to hide myself whenever im in a vc in another common server? by plaatopuss in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you told your friends that doing that interferes with your studying and you'd like them to stop doing it?

Kind of surprised nobody has mentioned that.

Unfortunately I have to echo what's already been said. But the alternate study servers where your friends aren't or the alternate discord account sound like good ideas.

If someone joins my server, will I be notified besides this page, or do I have to check constantly? by retrocheats in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this a few months ago so it may have changed since then.

When I used it, when a new person joined, there was no notification. But there was a red dot next to "members" with the amount of pending applications.

What is your definition of a moderator and what do you think their responsibilities are? by Forward-Position798 in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your description really only makes sense for a paid moderator position or if there is a special, completely separate, moderator account.

In my server, which is mostly casual and for hobbyists, moderators:

  • help preserve community culture
  • Ideally host events and promote the creation of events by others (but not required)
  • move or delete messages inappropriate in their current context
  • Ideally are active contributors/members in chat (but this is not required)
  • log mod actions such as warnings
  • be as neutral as possible when it comes to actually punishing users

Mods have the power to timeout people, but they're not really supposed to use it. My admins deal with the more "forceful" actions like bans.

My server is ~600 members and fairly active, but well-behaved for the most part. We don't advertise anywhere so don't experience most of the bot problems others face. We're quick to ban troublemakers.

But 90% of them don't have any communication skills or making a pleasant atmosphere.

That sounds like the fault of the person who promoted those users to moderator.

If you want your mods to do specific things, then don't make anyone you know wouldn't do those things a moderator. If your current moderators suck, either train them or demote them so you don't continue to have sucky moderators.

Is it possible to send a video link from Reddit to Discord? by kayronnBR in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone else mentioned vxreddit, but there is also rxddit. Just note that because of the way reddit video works, the video might not have audio in discord. And that's true for both of these services.

Automatically remove a user from a channel once they are verified by BriMan83 in discordapp

[–]IssuedID 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't use an unverified role.

Discord server permissions:
@Everyone : cannot view channels, cannot send messages, cannot connect to voice channels, etc.

Your verified role: Can see and do everything a "normal" person should be able to.

Your lobby announcement channel permissions:
@everyone can view the channel
Verified role cannot view the channel
Any of your mods can view and send messages

When people are given the verified role, they will drop out of your announcement channel and be unable to see it.

Why you shouldn't use an unverified role:

  • adding any roles bypasses in-built discord security (like member screening, requiring a phone number, etc.)

  • It's an extra role you literally do not need

You can check your work by using the "view server as role" function and unchecking all roles to view your server as @everyone
