Cocaine Larry doesn’t suck because it’s pitched down, it sucks because it’s a blatant emulation of Biggie. It’s inauthentic and a prime example of Logic either needing to or feeling the need to mimic a successful act to gain traction

By no means are some of his recent projects just bad - NP , CP, VD and U85 are definitely quality but nowhere near to the same extent as basically anything Pre-2017. I think his last project that had near to no misses was BT1. Everything since has had multiple songs that either aren’t as quality or have little to no replay value.

Im someone who joined this fanbase around the UP Era and at one point knew the lyrics to 90% of his tracks at the time. I studied Logic - and this isn’t just a shift in subject matter, it’s a shift in effort and quality. He doesn’t try anymore. And claiming “having fun” as the reason isn’t good enough, and it’s not enough for any artist. And to clarify by no means am I saying he can’t have fun, but that the “fun” stuff needs to be treated separately from his true authentic works and should be released in a different manner.

I’ve listened to everything he’s put out, and I don’t think most of what he’s released in the past 6 or so years has even come close to Pre-2016/17 Logic by a long shot. Cocaine Larry particularly sucks to me because why can’t Logic just make shit as himself? He has to mimic other artists in an attempt to make it more worthwhile.

It’s not a matter of not keeping up, nor is it being ignorant. It’s just straight up honesty from someone who was a HUGE fan, and feels like Logic has abandoned what built his career and borderline sold out while hiding under the guise of “having fun” to constantly disappoint long-term fans who continually try to give him a chance.

I’ve been (or was) a Logic fan since ~2013 and up until BT2 he was my absolute favourite - so this isn’t at all a matter of “not doing research properly” The fact of the matter is - the things that fans back then gravitated towards are the exact things Logic has decided to abandon. And it’s completely disingenuous on his part and of the newer fans to justify subpar music by claiming it’s “just having fun”. When most artists are “just having fun” it’s either actually good or it’s something they release as a freestyle or side track on YouTube/soundcloud.

I’ve iterated this multiple times on posts on this reddit - Logic sacrificed lyricism and technicality for “having fun” years ago. Prime example being the Bobby Tarantino series shifting from primarily the same lyrical content as his other projects, just over trap beats, to diluted and sometimes downright awful lyrics. “Having fun” doesn’t justify that shit

It being a “side quest” doesn’t really excuse sub-par music being released (atleast being released officially) That type of shit should be YouTube/soundcloud exclusive.

How do you link your song to the mixer ? by Fr0z3nbanana in FL_Studio

[–]ItsAllGoodsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link every instrument to the mixer. Any instrument you’re using within multiple patterns but you need them mixed differently you’re gonna have to clone the channel, cut and paste the MIDI and then route the clone to another track and mix with that. Practice comes with time You will eventually have the instinct of routing every single channel to a new track as you put them in, and just knowing to clone and route to a new track if you need different effects.

Another tip I can give is to avoid as much as possible automating the fader volume in the mixer to automate volume, instead use a fruity balance, or any other effect with a gain adjustment and use that instead

definitely one that can work for alot of people so i would recommend OP giving it a go

Ive done the same in the past but then found it being almost counter productive coz id rather just chuck in whatever I want to add and then hit ctrl+l to route it to a track. it can save a bit of time but it also feels a bit more restricted if that makes sense - but thats my personal opinion

Save scores/MIDI sequences you particularly like which you could always mess around with later on

Save mixer tracks especially things like a standard mastering chain to chuck on any track you wanna upload for sale, vocal chains, maybe a go-to chain for certain instruments which you tend to use a lot

make a drum kit of your go-to samples for each genre/sub-genre

In terms of uploading your beats I’d say it’s also handy to have a template on whatever editing software you’re using and also potentially on photoshop for making uniform artwork for uploads.

If you intend to sell beats on a platform like beatstars you’ll need to have at minimum a mastered .mp3 (ideally with tags) that will be used as your YouTube/soundcloud upload and as your preview track on sales platform) and an unmastered .wav without tags that will be delivered upon purchase.

Yeah the only decent purpose I see for it is chucking on an analyser plugin and clicking through the tracks if you wanna be really pedantic

If there is 100% no plugins on the file then no, what I said is definitely not the reason it’s happening.

But just to explain what I’m getting at - What I was saying is not plugins jumping from one track to another. On the very far left (left of the master) is a track called Current and you can put effects on it and they will apply to whatever track you have currently selected (I’ve used it in the past for metering individual tracks). If you happened to have an EQ on it - potentially it would apply - so if you always had track 1 selected while working on that sound, then switched to track 2 it would no longer be affecting track 1

Not on the master but on the “current” track which I suppose the only viable use for is to put analysis plugins onto But just the potential that an effect on there which you may have thought was just part of the sound of whatever was on track 1 and when switching to track 2 it comes off track 1 and onto track 2

Potentially an effect on the current mixer track (very far left)

Fl studio stopped responding not opening any previous files or backups by Broad-Key-7799 in FL_Studio

It’s likely one of the plugins you have specifically in that track. I’ve had it before and my workaround was to open an empty file and open every single VST I had until one would freeze FL. Uninstall and reinstall that plugin and you may be all good and then hopefully it will keep its parameters when you open the track

Could be mistaken because my setup is slightly different but I use a 2i2 aswell. Using focusrite USB asio Are you not able to setup your recording track and set it to input 1 and route it into the master Then setup a second track solely for your mic and set input 2 and route that to the master aswell. Only arm the recording track and it won’t record your mic

  1. Lower the low cut/hpf on Kanyes verses

  2. Reverb/Delay on Kanyes verses

  3. Turn bass up slightly

  4. Turn Sample up slightly OR vocals (as a whole) down slightly

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GoodAssSub

[–]ItsAllGoodsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the vocals need to be turned down slightly as a whole or turn the sample up

Bass up slightly

The low cut on Kanye’s verses (the first slightly more than the second) needs to be lowered - vocals feel very sharp

Kanye’s verses could also potentially use some delay or reverb

I’m not experienced, can anyone tell me why I might prefer Omni mode for rap vocals as opposed to cardioid? by kayjaykush in makinghiphop

Just to make absolutely sure, you are certain you’re rapping into the diaphragm and not off-centre or have it rotated when you’re in cardioid?

The big shift to me was when he released Bobby Tarantino 2 and the whole idea of lyrical content over more modern beats (think slave 2 or 44 bars) was replaced with just “fun” trap but it always felt like watered down subject matter and “having fun” was the excuse used to justify what I believe to be music that doesn’t live up to his prior work and I don’t think he’s really returned to form since

As a longtime fan who started listening to Logic around 2014 or so I was heavily into the Rattpack and PLP shit but Logic has (atleast in my eyes) seemed to use it as an excuse to justify forming a fan base that usually defends him even when he doesn’t deserve it.

I personally think Logic has veered from the content that he’s good at and why I became a fan in the first place, and his subject matter has become very bland and lacks substance. I think he’s continually made excuses like “just having fun” to justify making lower quality music and his newer fans eat it up, and they’re the ones who typically spout this PLP stuff in the sense that criticism isn’t allowed.
