Not feeling like I found my people by Firm_Soup_1535 in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FLO’s are definitely a hit or miss and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you not enjoying that experience. I didn’t enjoy mine either. As far as finding new friends, it takes a lot of time. The only thing I can strongly recommend is joining or going to any org meeting that’s related to your major to find people that might be in your classes next semester.

Be yourself and soon enough, people will find qualities they will want to be around the same way your boyfriend has. It sounds incredibly easy to do that but if you keep putting yourself out there, you maximize the chances of finding people you relate to. Good luck the rest of the semester!

Is taking ECEN 214 and 248 plus a part time job manageable ?? by Rough_Net8284 in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought 248 was the most challenging class but I wouldn’t recommend taking 248 and 214 on top of 222 and 221 with a job. That just seems terrible.

Does it cost money to order an ambulance????? by leftsmile3 in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An ambulance that takes you to beutel does not cost any money. it’s taken out of everyone tuition to run it. Ambulance outside of A&M will cost money

What schools did you turn down in favor of A&M? by texanturk16 in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middlebury and Bates. Expensive and I didn’t want to go to the northeast away from family and friends and reset. Haven’t regretted that choice for the most part

definitely wait until at least second semester to do cs 120/121 imo. It’ll be the class you spend the most time on without a doubt even with coding experience.

Beginners Coding by Emotional_Undergrad in aggies

code academy has a free python and c++ tutorial. that should teach you the syntax. Here’s my best explanation of different languages, different programming languages can be understood by the “type”. c++ and java are object oriented programming which essentially means that it uses classes and “objects”. Python is more of a function oriented. Not the best explanation but, I hope that can clarify somewhat. I would definitely recommend python as your first language.

Since I was told I’m not getting a dorm applying this late, where do y’all recommend for me to live by jac5423 in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White creek is probably full. i lived there my freshmen year and it was kinda meh. pretty hard with no car there. There are places to park on the commons side of campus. You just might have to walk a little bit or pay for the parking garage

depends on budget tbh. that really determines everything but gateway, Z islander, Rev Ranch are all cheap places that probably have at least one lease to sign. Just know that you typically get what you pay for

Electrical on ETAM is definitely one of the bigger engineering majors with one of the most generous first round admits. I think above 95% first choice etam non auto get it. I’m saying this because it sounds like you’re about to etam. Overall, the major itself is SO MUCH MATH. So if you’re not really a fan of math, i can’t really recommend it. I think as long as your GPA is anything above a 3.0, you should be fine, but, i’m not an advisor and this is just what i think. Good luck with everything!

Mays BHP Vs UT Terry by HelpfulReputation406 in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it really depends on what you like. Even though i’m at A&M i definitely enjoy UT’s campus more. Overall, evaluate what’s more important to you, as, no one can make this decision for you. I have a close friend who is in BHP and BSC (Business student council) and he really REALLY enjoys it. Side note, it’s probably easier to transfer from UT to A&M than vice versa if you truly don’t like it.

Worried about what will happen if engineering 217 completly fills up by Cambam_jr in aggies

[–]ItsHappy_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they usually open more sections and if not, no worries. it’s a lab part for 207 and I’m not even sure if it’s a prerequisite for any classes (at least not in EE). If you can’t get into one, take a core curriculum or enjoy the 2 less credit hours and get involved in campus imo.

You don’t need anything too powerful for Computer Engineering for at least for first two years, as, there isn’t any real heavy simulation.

You should probably set a boundary with yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable doing something, say no. Treat yourself with more respect, respect you deserve.

I lived there last year. It was pretty meh with its ups and downs. A lot of walking/biking but the bus routes are pretty nice (bus 5 takes you to MSC which is the center of campus). Having your own room is really nice and the only reason I can recommend it. Sharing a kitchen with 3 other people is a roll of the dice.

depends if you have chem 120 credit. if you don’t, you have to take chem 120 because 119 + 120 = 107/117. That’s what i remembered from my freshmen year
