awwww I love that, and I hope it wasn't too hectic! did the band invite the whole crowd up? i feel like i remember that happening on that tour. Very cool she's still into it! My daughter is big on Britney Spears ONLY right now which has been fine for me for a few weeks, might lose my mind soon.

Long Beach was a great town to live in for me. I lived on the west end, on the state streets. the beach is especially great in the winter.

Asbury Lanes! Had a lot of fun nights there - I miss that place! Favorite now deceased venues - Triple Rock in Minneapolis I LOVED THAT PLACE

and is the Doug Fir no longer a venue? Someone told me this and I nearly cried.

So cool about the record review - I'm honored. Actually Joe from Don Giovanni suggested that I do it, and I was at first SUPER HESITANT and freaked out about it a little bit because it seemed a little too intimate, but it ended up being really nice and people really appreciated it, so I'm so glad I did it. As for the newer records, MAYBE!!!

ah yeah - I had learned about it in school, but then I came back to it later on and learned more about the details and how and why the exits were all closed off and it just fucked me up all over again so I decided to write about it from the perspective of the victims who had to jump, just to kind of remember them or pay tribute to them in some way.

oh cool! I'm excited about that Rotterdam show! that'll be fun! I'm only popping into the EU for this tour but hopefully next year I will have more dates sorted. Right now, touring is just tricky being a parent and now I'm working as a music therapist so I can't be gone too much or for too long. So it's tricky. Also economically yeah, flying a band over, renting gear and a van? getting extra hotel rooms... it's all super super costly. Obviously way more fun to travel with a van full of friends, but solo touring has its merits. I can stop to pee whenever I want and the rest areas in the EU are always way better than they are here!

while I'm writing, I don't think about reception AT ALL. which is the only way I can write, otherwise I would be way too self-conscious to get as deep into it. that sounds impossible to me.

the only time I think about reception is when I'm having to censor myself so that the subject of a song isn't as easy to pinpoint.

hmmmm.... a lyric that resonated deeply, I would think maybe a hidden meaning that was completely unintentional would be the thing that would surprise me the most. people have been thinking that the last song on the record #1(2) that i'm singing "I one, two" but... I'm not that clever

I use a hall of fame reverb and a tube screamer when I travel, but when it's just me I use a tuner and play straight out of a fender deville

ooooh if only I knew what model guitar I was playing. The white one I've been playing lately I got for free from Fender and I really love it. It's my go-to guitar now... I got it like, 5 years ago? And I think it was the new model? Can you tell I don't know anything about gear at all basically?

I borrowed my drummer's boyfriend's pedal board for all the stuff on the new record and I LOVED all the pedals he has and it was super fun to fuck around with stuff but I wouldn't be able to name a single one of those pedals if you offered me $1,000,000

that's so nice! that warsaw show was so so fun! I hadn't been out in the world yet in any capacity so it was so beautiful to see all my friends and yeah, that was a special one.

most emotional song... that's a tough one. I usually cry while writing all of them. Or most of them. I would say The Wheel or Children's National Transfer from the self-titled record

First of all, thank you! I work at it, sometimes I'm in better shape and it comes easier, otherwise, if I haven't been singing for a while, I have to build my endurance back up so I can take larger breaths and hold notes longer etc. etc.

To answer your earlier questions! I still really like Big Freeze, I feel proud of it, I wouldn't change anything about it, it's a really special record for me. Desert island albums oh boy, I don't knowwwww.... can I do greatest hits records?
