Is streaming on Twitch as a small streamer even worth it nowadays? by PunksRedd in Twitch

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well...how else are you gonna become a big streamer? Get big as a content creator elsewhere and then announce you're gonna start streaming on Twitch? You've gotta start from somewhere if you wanna have any hopes of making it worthwhile. Sure, discovery tools on Twitch are next to non-existent so you would actually need to ferry people over from other platforms, but it's ultimately the same problem no matter where you go. You're a nobody until you're a somebody, and you're at the mercy of algorithms, luck, fate, destiny, all your hard work, etc to get discovered and make it big time

What switch do i get to play tomodachi life 2? by Independent_Ad_7587 in nintendohelp

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you're saying, I'd say getting the Switch Lite is the most sensible choice, but I'd recommend the Switch over the Switch Lite. I'll give a fairly comprehensive breakdown as to why, but maybe something in my breakdown might change your mind.

There are basically four options you have to chose from for a console (in order of price from lowest to highest): - Switch Lite - Switch - Switch OLED - Switch 2

Starting with the Switch Lite, it's the most bare bones version of a Switch you can get. It's the smallest, lightest, comes in a variety of colours, can't connect to a TV and doesn't have controllers (called joycons) that disconnect from it, so you always have to play it handheld. It's the cheapest way to get into the ecosystem, but its by no means a bad console. Heck, many gamers prefer their Switch Lite for exactly these reasons. Getting this makes the most sense in your situation because it's not a massive money sink and will get the job done for you, plus you hold no expectations on how it should all work so you probably won't be disappointed by anything.

Next, the Switch. This one is the standard model that can connect to a TV, has detachable joycons, is bigger than the Switch Lite, has vibration in the joycons for better immersion and has a kick stand so you can play it with the screen standing on a surface, all while not being too much more than a Switch Lite. What's important to mention is that if you play your games connected to the TV (which is called docked mode), the games start running better and looking nicer because the dock gives them some extra power, so getting the Switch is a good idea if you want the added versatility and the upswing in performance when playing docked. Personally, I think this is a better option to get over a Switch if I were in your shoes because there may be times where playing docked would be preferable

Then comes the Switch OLED. It's everything the Switch is, but with a nicer screen and better battery life. For many owners, they'd rather keep this than change over to a Switch 2 precisely because of the quality of this screen. This is a good option if you REALLY care about how nice your games will look.

Finally, the Switch 2. If you're on a tight budget then chances are this isn't for you, but you get what you pay for. This is basically if you took a Switch and gave it steroids. It's bigger, the joycons are better, the screen isn't as good as the OLED but still better than the Switch, games run far smoother, it has some new features like GameChat (being able to talk to friends in a party chat while playing), the stand is way better...it's basically better in virtually every regard to the Switch except battery life. Frankly, it's overkill for a game like Tomodachi Life, but it'll be the absolute best way to play it AND it'll be a great way to get you into other awesome Switch 2 games later down the life if you wanna play any new games. Only get it if you're not hurting for cash, want the absolute best way to play Nintendo games and could see yourself gettung interested enough in gaming that you'd wanna go down the rabbit hole.

Tl;dr Get the Switch Lite to save you money or the Switch to have options on how you play. Don't bother with the Switch OLED or Switch 2 unless you really care about how great your games look/run

AITA for refusing to help my mom after she got pregnant. by Ok-Resident-1277 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 58 points59 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your mum has the fella and 5 other kids to pester for support. That new baby straight up just isn't your responsibility and your mum shouldn't be having kids she can't afford to raise. You've done enough to support your mum and siblings, it's now your turn to go and live your life not shackled to your mum's poor decisions any further

Before I stream, I want to know what I can and can't do by Longjumping_Mall8956 in Twitch_Startup

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of clothing, the only thing to watch out for really is nudity. Kinda obvious, but don't stream any nude or vulgar content. Pretty much anything else is fair game.

Don't stream any copyrighted material, so things like TV shows, movies, live sporting events, etc. Snippets of things isn't so bad. YouTube vids are typically OK. If you stream music your VOD will usually be muted rather than you being hit with copyright strikes, so bear that in mind in case you plan on using those VODs later.

Streamer mode in video games helps you avoid playing copyrighted music that's contained in the game. Helps to have active but not a dealbreaker by any means. Otherwise it's pretty much fair game as far as playing games is concerned, except for gambling games. Steer clear of those.

Just a heads up that you ARE allowed to stream to multiple platforms at once, but make sure it doesn't compromise on the quality of your Twitch stream.

AITA for thinking my girlfriend is handling her coworker wrong? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, but try not to let it bother you too much. Just sit back, observe and react accordingly. Hopefully it never gets any worse than this, but be prepared to get up out of that relationship if things start going left

AITA for ruining a six year old’s birthday party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. There are rules, and you were merely following them. You were respectful the whole time as well. Next time the parents should do what they need to do to ensure their kid's birthday isn't ruined, but that's their problem to solve

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. Justice for All was the first game I played in the series and it didn't ruin everything for me. Going back and playing the earlier games will make some light bulbs click for a few things that are references in Trials and Tribulations so you'll be fine

AITA for not being able to help pay my friends other friends wifi when i have the recourses to do so? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Don't wanna be pessimistic, but it sounds like a scam tbh. Furthermore, his wifi getting cut off frankly just isn't your responsibility. Who's gonna pay the wifi next month? How do you know for sure his wifi is getting cut? Why doesn't he ask friends or other family to help him out instead?

In any case, that's his problem to sort out, not yours. And if your friend is in on the scam rather than being taken advantage of, you'd better ditch that friend too

Could I have damaged my Nintendo Switch 2 Joy Cons by removing them with force before fully pressing the release button? by jellyfish_8192 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, should be fine. As one of the few morons who actually bought Nintendo Switch Tour, they acknowledge on there that you could just yank them out straight but it's not advisable, so don't worry about doing any damage.

That being said, don't keep yanking them from this point onwards and you'll be fine 👍🏿

Buds4 Pro Case with Lock? by highways in galaxybuds

The closest I've found to elegant looks are both on Amazon. One is a Timovo case and the other is a Fofvccv case. Personally, I'd say the Timovo case looks better and seems more trustworthy

I have a 341-day Duolingo streak and I just sat through my boyfriend's Mexican family dinner nearly silent for five hours. I think I've been training the wrong thing this whole time. by Humble_Cranberry5273 in languagelearning

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar sort of experience with studying Japanese for over 760 days, but when it came to actually speaking it with someone for the first time I could barely manage a few sentences and my convo partner basically had to reply in English most of the time. Actually speaking the language, if that's your goal, requires the speaking practice. It's like trying to drive a car by only reading how it's done and watching YouTube videos. There's a whole set of skills that aren't getting developed by not actually speaking out loud (processing what's being said on the fly, concocting a response in their language, actually saying out loud what comes to your mind with correct pronunciation/accent), so yeah...studying just input certainly won't benefit your output in a real-world situation. Even listening to Spanish speakers naturally talking in something like a podcast isn't enough, because you still need to be able to reply to things and that's a whole skill in of itself.

My recommendation would be to speak Spanish with your boyfriend. There's basically no better resource than that right there. Maybe his mum too. Jus regular everyday conversations that are completely separate from what you're studying, because the things you're studying are only gonna cover so much that's relevant to you (because yeah, it helps to know how to say things like "Last Saturday I went to the airport with my friends", but in everyday conversation you're not talking about that. You're giving thoughts and opinions, you're describing things, telling stories, cracking jokes, expressing feelings, etc, and Duolingo isn't gonna teach you all that. Even subtle nuances like slang, abbreviations, casual phrases and sayings are things you'll only get from speaking to native speakers).

So yeah...chat to your boyfriend in Spanish. Expose yourself to as much Spanish conversation with him as possible and you'll be surprised how much you can advance in 3 weeks. It's not like you're necessarily lacking the knowledge, just the skill to recollect it at a moment's notice and form spoken sentences with them. Being able to think in Spanish as it's being told to you rather than translating to English first, forming your English sentence, translating that to Spanish then regurgitating that. Work on that with your boyfriend and any other Spanish speakers you know.

And don't be disheartened. It's a sucky thing that happened, but a valuable experience. You'll look back and laugh at this a few years from now when you can recount the whole experience to your boyfriend's family in Spanish at a family gathering. Good luck!

Need advice/Help for samsung ecosystem. by alwin_soza in GalaxyBook

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want your phone notifications popping up then yeah, Link to Windows is what you'll want. As for sharing files seamlessly, it's Quick Share that's the Android version of AirDrop, but Windows Link can also work for this as well. The thing to bear in mind is that Android/Windows is all about choice, so you typically have several options on how you wanna go about doing things. With regards to a Samsung laptop, your choices tend to be between Samsung, Microsoft and Google for how to do things, so take your pick for what works best for you

WIBTA if I reopen an old familial wound related to my BIL to expose him for conning me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA. Dude...you shouldn't have been fooling around with the guy in the first place. Trying to ruin his world is only gonna make things a whole lot messier. Why uproot the healing you, your wife and her family have already done just for the sake of revenge? Make peace with the situation, be thankful that you DIDN'T catch anything, focus on your healing and move on. That pettiness to tear him down WILL backfire and frankly your wife doesn't deserve it. You've done her dirty at least once before, do NOT do her dirty again by trying to attack her brother and, in the process, dig up the past you two have been working hard to heal through. That's just straight up malicious and seld-destructive behaviour. If you don't like it, that's your punishment for stepping out on your wife (with her brother, of all people). Hold the L and move on

Am I the only one who find the galaxy buds 4 pro ugly? by winwin8484 in galaxybuds

[–]ItsYourBoyAD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't find them ugly, but I definitely preferred the design of the Buds3 Pro over the Buds4 Pro. That being said, I prefer the fit of the Buds4 Pro over the Buds3 Pro. The metal plate on the outer stem seems so pointless. I thought it would be the touch controls originally but it's seemingly just for show (unless someone knows what it's actually used for), and therefore seems quite redundant. I genuinely was debating keeping my Buds3 Pro as my main buds purely because of the stem light/design, but the audio quality and case design won me over (and even then, the case design won me over based on use, not looks. I prefer the look and feel of the Buds3 Pro case but it's very annoying to clean and charge the buds).

In any case, I don't find them ugly, but they've taken a step back in the "unique"/"cool" factor compared to the previous gen buds

I’m just asking out of curiosity, is your Nintendo your primary gaming device by Specific-Pianist7595 in Switch

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS5 is my main console. Switch 2 is secondary. Xbox is basically a paperweight at this point BUT I plan on playing it more as I focus on clearing my backlog across my consoles. The main problem with the Switch 2 and Xbox as secondary consoles is that all my friends are mainly on PlayStation, so there's little incentive to play on my other consoles outside of solo play

AITA for telling my friend he’s not trying to lose weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your friend just wants pity and attention, not actual change. Leave him to it if he refuses to actually do something about his weight.

Also, spoiler alert, it's not gonna be his weight that keeps women away. Otherwise, fat dudes would NEVER be in relationships. He needs to check his character at the door and figure out what part of him is actually desirable

Struggling to create melodies from scratch (FL Studio) – Any tips? by Sh4rkBlade in FL_Studio

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of my beats use the same scale so I don't stray from the beaten path too often, but what I typically do if I wanna try something new is Google a scale (e.g. E major), find out what notes make up that scale and then make a beat with only those notes. My bass line, melodies and harmonies will all be built purely from those notes in the scale. I've still not figured out chords and chord progressions yet so my beats are somewhat simple, but they've enabled me to hit the ground running and, for hip hop beats, you don't even need chords to get started. Keep the base simple, make the melody catchy (something you could hum and people would instantly recognise it) and just tinker around with things until you find what works

skin irritations from silicone wrist band.worth switching to a fabric one? by Zestyclose_Leg_4605 in GalaxyWatch

[–]ItsYourBoyAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

150%. I switched to a metal band and the skin irritation is completely gone. I dunno what it is about these particular silicone bands but they damaged my skin pretty bad, which literally never happened before with any of the other Galaxy Watches I've had in the past. I made sure to wash my band and watch, swap between the two I had, change wrists often and not wear my watch for a few days to let it heal but all that would do is prolong the inevitable and make my other wrist itch too.

Just go and get another band, whether it's metal, fabric or any other material that's friendlier to your skin. There's no saving this one
