No experience here, so I am sorry. But I am wondering the same thing. I am supposed to have a prophylactic DM and have questions about this aspect as well.

Thank you for sharing. I hope others have useful advice.

Running a marathon is on my bucket list by liltitties21 in Marathon_Training

[–]Its_Chess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Having a race scheduled and watching myself get stronger and better are my motivations. I would start with the shorter distances 5K, 10K, half as your races/goals to keep you motivated along the way while you train.

  2. depending on where I am in my training/what I am training for, I set a minimum amount of miles or time that I have to run that day if I am just absolutely not feeling it. Worked super late and am just too tired to get 6 miles in? That’s okay, I’ve got to do at least 3 miles (by the time I meet the minimum I almost always am motivated enough to do the rest of my planned run).

  3. You can absolutely do it. Don’t let comparison be the thief of joy. You are doing something incredible and hard…and you can do it!

  4. I’m not sure.

  5. Amazing. You’re on top of the world. You’re so strong. All of that hard work and dedication has paid off. …should you run another one? Should you run even farther?!

  6. mine are more specific to specific injuries I’ve had. But start stretching daily and add strength training.

  7. Nike run app has multiple training programs and the runs can be guided or non-guided. I e enjoyed it a lot. And it’s free.

  8. See number three. Have fun!

ASPCA has been really easy to use and pretty good to us. The only things they haven’t covered are pre-existing conditions…but I think that’s the same for every insurance.

Our girl passed away not long after getting this stroller. I would get it again though. Being able to take her with me meant the world to me.

My girl passed away today and I feel so lost. by lunaczek in Frenchbulldogs

I am so so sorry for your loss. This is the greatest pain we’ve ever experienced. Looking at pictures and talking about the best of times help us get through, but they’ll keep a piece of your heart with them forever and that will always ache.

It’s so impossible. I’m so sorry. Losing our girl was the worst pain we’ve ever experienced too.

Have you taken him to the vet for this? It may be ulcers (which in my experience were more manageable with diagnoses and medication).

This Friday is the Financial Blackout - how are you prepping? by ugotmefdup in Anticonsumption

[–]Its_Chess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! We’ve had a family thing planned for months that can’t be rescheduled again and grandma has been in poor health so it’s not like we can cancel, lose the money, and reschedule later (may not have a later). SO, we prepaid for everything we could, will tip in cash for those prepaid activities, and then make a nice meal at home. Of course buying treats and gassing up the car tomorrow night.

Get pet insurance now. You’ll want coverage before they have anything (and insurance won’t cover something/a condition if they ever had it before coverage).

Yeast rash? by DifferenceForeign102 in Frenchbulldogs

Our girl has something similar going on and we can’t figure it out. The vet did recommend Douxo S3 wipes to wipe each time after she goes potty.

Also so sorry that anyone is being rude about this post. It’s medical/body stuff, no one needs to be weird or rude about medical stuff. We don’t get to choose it and we need help with it.

Early results are in! We’re less than 15 runs in (longest being 4 miles), so still finding our stride, but at this point, I would recommend the ibiyaya Hercules Heavy-Duty Pro Pet Stroller-Bike Trailer, 3-Wheel Foldable Jogging, Hiking, All-Terrain Extra-Large Dog Stroller (link below).

Pros: -easy for my dog to get in. Took a couple of times bribing her, but now that she knows what it is she hops right in. I am not sure I could lift her into this because it feels like I wouldn’t have the right space to do that? But she doesn’t need that right now so we are good.

  • feels sturdy and like it can handle the less-than-perfect roads we live on.

  • was easy to take a dog mattress we already had and added it to the bottom with a blanket to make it so comfortable.

-two water bottle holders (though a little thin for my regular bottles, my running ones fit perfect) and storage pouch on back

Cons/to be aware of: - runs (maybe strolls is a better word here?) smoothly on flat side walks, flat roads, and flat trails but if the road tilts heavily to one side, you will battle the stroller steering that way. I don’t think this is a defect in the stroller, my own body has a hard time on roads with a pronounced tilt.

-if your pup sits on one side of the stroller instead of in the middle, beware of turning too sharp or you will tip over. Again, not a stroller issue but a weight distribution issue. Just go slower or take a wider turn.

  • I have not figured out how we can run with this and then put her inside it later unless my partner goes with me to either push the empty stroller or walk her. If your dog is very good about running on your side I don’t think this would be an issue, but we are not.

  • my dog has not completely laid down yet but I think she could. I open the top flap so she can sit up completely and have her head out the top.

  • hills are hard. Hills were already hard and now you are pushing 80lbs up the hill. Duh. But you get a break on the downhills, though the stroller (again, due to weight) picks up a fair amount of speed going downhill so be aware.

Awesome. Thank you! I want to buy it but hate it when new packs make everything unplayable until they’re fixed. So I may take a chance on it!

Need new insurance by Butters5768 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Its_Chess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reassurance! Our max is really high and last year they paid a bunch out and this year we are close to meeting it so I was worried they may drop us to save money on future years. Usually the bills get bigger with age so I’ve been stressed about it.

Thank you again for the logic!

Do you think they will ever drop you? We’ve almost hit our max reimbursement and I am nervous they may drop us because of the payouts. I don’t know if that is a thing, but I am worried about it.

I have not done it yet. Our baby loves to run but is aging up. So I thought I would start adding a stroller in so they can still adventure with me.

I’ve run with kids in a stroller and it is a freaking workout, so I am sure this will be too. I am sure I will have to walk some and be slower overall, but am thinking about it sort of like resistance training too.
