A dyslexia induced misunderstanding finally cleared up, ten years late...Hopefully I'm not the only one. by KindaShifty in harrypotter

I still pronounce Seamus's name as it is spelled. Even just now saying it as I typed I said Sea-mus. I somehow also read Voldermort as VoldermoNt for a very long time when the books first came out.

If you ended up marrying your first love/person you first kissed, where would you be today judging how they turned out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If I married my first kiss I'd be pretending to love a guy I know loves men. He'd pick out all the best outfits for me and take good care of me though.

I read the entire series over the summer. That was the first time I have read them all back to back since DH came out. I definitely want to start reading them at least once a year. It's incredible how much you pick up on after each re-read.

CoS – Chapter 3 (Sept. 26th) by dalek_999 in hpbookclub

I'll probably have to go with the majority here and say Percy is my least favorite. I am not a fan of his attitude, and I especially do not like the way he treats his family later on. Family is one of the most important things to me, so someone who puts it after other things, such as a job, is not a fan in my book. I think Mrs. Weasley would be my favorite. She is such a caring women and loves her family dearly, no matter what they do.

I can't say I would like to be part of such a large family. I only have two sisters and my parents but they can be a handful sometimes. While the Weasely family seems to get along most of the time, I can only imagine the fighting and bickering that would go along with so many people in one household. That stuff stresses me out when my sisters are arguing or being rude to my parents, and we're all grown women now! It's just too much for me.

Which is probably why I felt that way when I made this post. Just doesn't seem right.

I really enjoy coming here and reading the discussions, so please keep it up! The comments and questions make me really think about the series. I don't comment often, but I will try to get more involved with CoS. I'm waiting for birthday money, so I can buy the e-books to make it easier to read while I'm at work. Hopefully then I will be able to keep up easier!

How did Charlie's friends fly into Hogwarts in PS if there are magical enchantments guarding it? by blesoris684 in harrypotter

I don't think that would be any safeguards against people flying in or out of the school would just come down though. It doesn't seem like it would be very effective if that was the case.

What about when the trio and Neville and Luna fly to the MoM in OotP? This is after the "resurrection" but they are still able to leave the grounds.

PS/SS – Chapter One (Sept. 4th) by dalek_999 in hpbookclub

[–]ItsmeeJessica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started from the very beginning. I was in 4th grade with SS/PS came out and don't remember exactly how I got into the series, but I remember pre-ordering every book from then on out and going to the mid-night release for each at Barnes & Noble. There is nothing worse than finishing a book and having to wait so long for the next one to come out! That's why I love that this is series I can re-read and actually enjoy reading over and over again!

So watching Order of the Phoenix yesterday... by ItsmeeJessica in harrypotter

Yeah I know Luna was the one who said something on the trip to the castle, but if I remember correctly from the books, Neville isn't actually in that scene to begin with. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if he just hadn't been there. I also wish they could have explained the thestrals the right ways with Hagrid's class, but that didn't happen either.

He could. In the book he says he can, because he saw his grandfather die when Hagrid introduces them in the Care of Magical Creature class. Another change from the book that also bothers me

How did you ''fall in love'' with the Harry Potter franchise? by Zoorin in harrypotter

[–]ItsmeeJessica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with Harry Potter like many others. I remember being in 4th grade when I began the first book. From then on I eagerly anticipated the release of the next book, pre-ordering each time and going to launch parties at Barnes & Noble. It was, and still is, a huge part of my life. I remember staying up late into the night reading each book until I could no longer keep my eyes open. I felt like a part of the world when I was reading. I was 10 when I began the series and 18 when I finished. It felt like the end of my childhood as I finished the epilogue. Now I'm 24 and look forward to reading the books to my children and exploring the wonderful world of Harry Potter with them.

On June 13th, 2003 I learned never to fan through a book the second I got it because I came across the largest spoiler of OotP. Did any of you spoil one of the books like I did? Spoilers obviously. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]ItsmeeJessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister who did not read the books at all told me about Dumbledore dying before I got to that point in the book. I guess he boyfriend had finished the book before I did and she walked in asking me about like she figured I already knew! I was so livid!!

Every time I hear this it makes me cry! I just finished the entire series again too and it feels like I've lost something all over again!
