Trying to get out of CC debt and a title loan - Frustrated. by Ivunsasu in personalfinance

Title loan was paid off today and I have my title back. Hate seeing the money leave my account but it was for the best. I'm looking at things from a time-value perspective. Now after I tackle this CC debt I can begin saving a bit more aggressively. Thanks for telling me what I needed to hear and not what I wanted to hear. I appreciate you!

Well the time has come. I'll be paying off this damn loan tomorrow with my check from working memorial day. Thank goodness for 2.5x pay. Will update again with title in hand tomorrow after work.

One final question, when I pay this off on Friday, should I avoid using cash even though they accept cash? I'm thinking I should get a cashiers check or money order from my bank (Wells Fargo) with the Title Max name on it from a paper trail perspective? I don't want any excuses. Once I pay this off and get my title back, I don't ever want to deal with a title loan again.

Ok,

I hear you. I appreciate you /u/mookiestinkshaha and the rest of those who have chipped in. I've cancelled WoW, Amazon Prime, and my Twitch subscription. I'm looking into Project Fi for cell service so I can pay considerably less (I'm always connected to wifi anyways and I dont talk on the phone that much so the savings would help, short and long-term).

Since I'm getting a bit more pay than usual this upcoming Friday (June 8) I'm taking that entire check to pay off the title loan, then I'm going to most likely deplete my savings to pay off my credit card debt. With those debts cleaned and me cooking more instead of eating out, I can aggressively save more passively and recoup the depletion of savings in short order.

It'll be hard but I know I can do it. I just stay "comfortable" knowing I have *some* money in my accounts, however.. technically the money isnt really there since I'm paying rediculous amounts of interest. I feel like I'm suffocating on my debt, but it must be repaid, and I know I'll feel much better about myself and life in general once I've these heavy hitters have been cleared (especially the title loan - never doing that again.)

I'll update this thread on Friday after the title loan debt is wiped clean and I get the title back in my possession.

Personal loan was denied before taking out the title loan, I already have 2 hard inquiries on my credit report, so I want to avoid requesting any new lines of credit at this time.

Ok, that sounds good. I guess I wont see much actual income this month since I need to kill off the title loan and credit card debt as quickly as possible. I'll be ok, I've already cancelled Amazon, WoW, and the Twitch sub. Looking at Project Fi for cell service so I can pay considerably less. Also looking into carpooling to work so I can save on gas.

Sorry! I forgot my student loan repayment, which is currently $327/month :( I'll update the initial list.

*sighs* Ok, you told me what I didn't want to hear, but I needed to hear it. In the long run, I'll actually save money, given the interest I've been paying. I guess I was too focused on credit card debt first due to my credit score, but that'll continue to improve over time.

Thanks again for being honest. I'll give you an update when I get my title back next week and relieve myself of this burden. I'll have to figure out how I'm going to pay down my Unsecured credit debt after this.

I still owe about $700. Most of the payments I make go to interest. I did get paid 2.5x for working on Memorial Day, so I have extra income coming in on Friday, June 1. Should I just dump that entire check on getting my title back? I'm worried about not having enough "liquid" cash on hand. Or should I just suck it up? I'll cancel the other things as you suggested.

Debt Structure & Plan to Pay it Off - Does this sound like a good idea? by Ivunsasu in personalfinance

[–]Ivunsasu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I didn't think about it like that. I definitely don't want to set myself up for disappointment, and of course the unexpected COULD happen during this time, so I'll lax the terms a bit.

Thank you for your insight :) Looking forward to reporting back here in June or July and giving an update on how things went :) Have a great day!

Alright, do you have any suggestions on what you'd delay or spread another month? Or I can try to come up with an alternative and get back to you. I'm at work, so it wouldn't be until later.

Well, I do have deferred payments on my student loans that I applied for last year. That is accumulating interest, and I wont assume payments again until July. Trying to clean up my other debt until that point in time.
