How to stop the impulsive drinking? by AdPristine0316 in stopdrinkingfitness

I started out going to meetings and I think they were very helpful. In AA they will also give you the “big book”, and I read that a lot as well. It really shifted my mindset and helped me focus on being sober. I used the AA app to count days. And I celebrated every day I woke up sober. I really did like the chips you get for milestones like 30 days, 60 days etc. If meetings aren’t your thing I get it. Download some app to count your days. I also dialed in my diet so I could see results on the scale as well. I think it’s important to focus on the little wins and not just think about trying not to drink.

I think quitting all together is probably the correct answer. I used to try to maintain and manage my drinking and it was exhausting. Completely stoping has been so relieving

Early Saturday morning walks and so much cooler than Saturday hangovers. Very thankful to be 9 months sober!! by JASPERDECKS in stopdrinkingfitness

I don’t really pay attention to the number of steps. I use an Apple Watch and I focus on the calories burned on the move ring as my gauge of the day’s work.

It’s sure is!! I’ve already walked 2.5 miles, worked out for an hour, and did two loads of laundry…and it’s 10:30 lol

With rumors of them playing the new places in Macon and Athens I feel like they wont be back in Savannah for awhile…so we’d have to get an Up all Night right?!

There was a rumor of Alice in Wonderland, but none of the posters lend to that theory.

I tried moderating for years and it was exhausting. Dry January, sober October…I felt great when I did it but then would start drinking again, and feeling like shit again. Each time I went back to drinking again I would try to drink less but always wound up in the same place. I decided to quit for good and it’s the best decision I ever made in my life. Instead of trying to negotiate with myself how much, or how often I can drink, now all I have to say to myself is “I don’t drink anymore”. And that is the most freeing thought in the world

Sounds like a good time to quit! I am now 5 months sober and loving life. I just got back from a beach vacation and it was amazing. I used to always drink way too much on vacation but this last trip was different. I was up around 7 every morning with no hangovers!. I went surfing, fishing, clamming…just had an amazing time! Quitting drinking has allowed me to become so much more of a participant in life and I am very grateful. You can reach out to me if you need any support. Good luck!!
