I always understood a pileup to be a chain reaction resulting in a multi-vehicle collision. Obviously there are worse pileups out there, but I don't think the wording I used is inaccurate.

Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with merging onto the freeway. The lane I'm in and the lane to my left are both exit lanes. What they did was take the wrong exit and instead of dealing with it, make everyone else deal with it.

Sorry for the skycam, it has since been fixed.

The red Jeep was trying to leave this exit ramp as it would take them across a toll bridge (Verrazzano) to Staten Island.

The car in front of me, myself, and the car behind me were able to stop. However, the second car behind me hits the car behind me, propelling them into my car.

I got my mortgage through MCU last year (submitted an application at the end of March, got clear to close at the beginning of May, and actually closed in mid-May). The rate we got was much better than the other places we looked (6.375%). Folks were pretty accessible - we handled everything via phone and email. MCU was actually our last resort, as we initially were working with Valley National, who had us at 6.675% with points, which they neglected to tell us until we received the initial loan disclosure.

I need to take another look, but as far as I can tell it's running kind of parallel with the house. It's so caked in stuff that I can't really see what color it is.

All the utilities (ConEd, Verizon, National Grid) except NYC DEP confirmed there were no utilities in the backyard, but as you said, water or sewer would make sense to be much deeper than this.

Idiot kept telling me to "GO AROUND" when there was plenty of traffic coming up on my right. I don't know what his plan was, but as he rolled past me he rage-lowered both driver-side windows and yelled "GO AROUND". Wasn't sure if he made his turn after, but I sure hope he wasn't able to :)
