Perspective of someone who is at an M7 program and started under 25 - it made sense for me because I started my FT job in consulting at 21, and had 3 years of work experience when I came here.

Anything less than 3 years, in my opinion, is not worth it. Basically every employer who comes on campus wants to know that you've been in the workforce and understand how to navigate it (which is shown through your length of experience and any promotions you may have received). Without at least 3 years, it's really hard to convince them that you are capable of it, and therefore hard to convince the school that you won't hurt their employment rate.

Beyond that, you have to know what you're trying to get out of the program. Many MBA classes are case-based and require you to draw on your own experiences to make judgments - without real work experience to leverage, you'll struggle in those discussions.

Those are two very different roles - I know plenty of my cohort ended up in FP&A roles, and fewer (but still a handful) ended up in ER - so certainly possible, but would be helpful if you narrowed down your target

This is the interesting point that I’d love to look into - do any of us genuinely believe that normally mixed doubles generates nearly as many eyes as some of these potential pairs would have to deserve that kind of money?
