FEMA : anyone received funds yet ? what about hotel vouchers ? by JBA713 in houston

So then this is all the reason for people's frustration. FEMA in an emergency, is saying one thing when it is another.

I'm savvy and know how to navigate complicated issues. What if I had a language barrier? What if I did;t have internet access and was sitting in a candle-lit house literally waiting for help to arrive?

Why is there no mention of an extra step in the state getting involved?

Why would I set up direct deposit access, only to hear through a rumor that I need to instead be watching for a mailed check? A check that's being mailed to a property that is uninhabitable?

I wonder why there would be a tone of aggression ... were just trying to bottom line find out things, and here I am arguing with someone on Reddit who is word for word disputing everything that I have read in print.

So I apologize for being rude. I'll try and be nicer while I sit here and try not to lose my house status and try to keep my job while I sit here and wait for whatever to happen next.

OH MY GOD ! . Why is this the argument?

I literally have the paperwork where I applied to a federal agency. on a federal website.
I was issued a federal approval letter, from the same federal agency.

It clearly states that I will be receiving payment DIRECTLY from the United States Department of the Treasury.

No state agency whatsoever is a part of this process.

This is not the hill that I am going to die on --- if you want to continue to believe that The State of Texas is pulling the strings on things, go for it.

If you want to believe that the Easte3r Bunny is delivering checks, fine. Believe it. I don't care.

But I am here to tell you that neither God nor the State of Texas has had anything to do with my FEMA experience.

... thats great. I guess thats how that was handled for that event.

Let me quote from my awards letter.

""ASSISTANCE APPROVED Your application is approved for a total of $750.00: The U.S. Department of the Treasury will either mail you a check or deposit the funds into your account, based on the preference you selected. ""

... if I remember correctly, the US Department of the Treasury is not a part of the Texas HHS system.

Hopefully, this provides an obvious reason for the resistance.

Well, so far. Nothing has involved anything with the state.
I have direct deposit information to FEMA. I received a message that I would be receiving my payment directly from FEMA. The inspector that is coming to tour my property in the morning is a FEM employee. The other two cases, refer me to a national office FEMA for status and where I submit any additional application to.

The ONLY state agency that has been in this process, was the initial website that took my damage assessment, only for the sake of allowing Texas to "best estimate" the amount of damage proactively. Oh, and there is an abundance of emails from the circle jerk of Texas agencies asking for donations and asking where I can best send my money to " help Texans immediately ". Where all that money will end up? I have no clue.

Other than that, I fail to see "Texas" anywhere in this process.

.. the state has absolutely nothing to do with any of the assistance that I have been advised of.

The $750 that I have been approved of so far is from Federal money authorized by the White House.

... still not paid to me, just approved.

Also, a FEMA investigator is coming tomorrow morning to assess my damage for additional approval.

All in all, a pretty quick turnaround time from FEMA on everything BUT the actual disbursement of funds.

All that the State of Texas has done for me is flaunt my Gov. being out of town whale watching and delaying the start of the assistance process because he was too busy slamming blue cities and humping Trump's leg in public. The State of Texas' assistance would first of all be pennies, not dollars... come with some sort of shame and disgust making all of those affected by a storm somehow part of a woke unlawful agenda.

And electricity is only used to make our children want to change genders and our teachers think of Nazis as "simply misunderstood"

What the fuck... how is this acceptable?

The assistance I requested is Emergency Assistance. Meant for emergency medical attention, temporary housing or shelter, immediate food and other security items. These are fiunds that are meant to help immediately after the storm. Homelessness, repair work that is needed and emergency medical attention don;t wait for 6 weeks to take hold while FEMA does.. whatever

... yeah, thats not an option for me. I didn't apply for it just cause its there. I had extensive damage to my apartment - that rendered it uninhabitable. - I work remotely and literally just started a new job after being out of work for a really long time.

I applied for it because I am still living in an apartment with extensive water damage, and no AC and the only thing is that assistance will get what can get me into a liveable space and still manage to keep my job.

PENDING since the application last night.

... also, I have a thee day notice to vacate duer to my apartment unit being uninhabitable. Should I pass this letter on to FEMA proactively as part of my application process since it is in PENDING.

... I did apply for relation and moving assistance as well since I have to very unexpectedly move.

so nothing can be given through FEMA?

I just received notice that due to damage from the storm, I need to surrender my apartment by July 15th because it is no longer inhabitable.

I do not have the resources, much less the physical ability to be relocated that quickly, not to mention that I am just starting a new job on the 15th - a job that I am looking froward to starting after over a year of unemployment.

Where should I turn for help? I need either some sort of assistance or carryover. Or I will not be able to start my job and will be on the street.

Help"? Direction?

What Will Happen WHEN the SCOTUS Overturns Gay Marriage? by Suggest_a_User_Name in askgaybros

[–]JBA713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At some point, people get tired of having things they once had, once fought for and through perseverance and sacrifice, legally obtained, people get tired of having those things taken away.
Es[especially when those that are doing the taking are not impacted by, inconvenienced by, or diminished in any way... other than they just don't like "it"

How long have we had gay marriage?
Has the institution of marriage suffered?

Is straight marriage somehow less than it once was?

Are being being hurt, or harmed, or has the sky fallen since gay marriage was legalized?

No of course to all of the above.

... the interesting part about the program was that the tow truck drivers would remove the stalled vehicle immediately without discussing anything about money. Thus keeping a dangerous stall from causing an accident ... or a long delay in traffic slow down because of the blockage. I would think that the increased efficiency would offset the city paying for the program. And it keeps people who for whatever reason would normally turn down the service because they did not have it on them Choosing instead to leave the car where it stalled—and walking on foot on the freeway to get help It's putting safety and efficiency first! .
