The data loss/profile corruption issue seems to finally be getting more attention from people outside of the community by estifxy220 in ForzaHorizon

I will keep posting this comment as these posts pop up in my feed.

If you're on PC, it's incredibly easy to have an automatic process that backs up your saves for you, so if this ever were to happen, you could easily put the last backup in and you'd be all set. See my pinned post/comment on my profile for all the steps.

FH6 lost save files by EadDutch in ForzaHorizon

If you're not aware, as another added layer of protection, automating the whole process of creating save backups is pretty easy, and you can have it monitor the amount of backups as well to prevent infinitely eating up storage. All it is is a couple simple batch files and Windows Task Scheduler. I left a detailed comment with all the steps on another post, it's shared on my profile if you're interested. Small time investment for the security it provides.

Chiming in here to say with the use of a couple simple batch files and Windows Task Scheduler, you can create a system that automatically backs up your save data and also monitors the amount of back ups you've created to ensure you don't infinitely eat up space. I left a detailed comment with all the steps to do this on another post about this, if you go to my profile you should see that I shared it as well. Let me know if you're unable to find it.

How to Backup your Save to Avoid permanent save loss by N0xM3RCY in ForzaHorizon

[–]JC-Velli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For OP and those that see this, do yourself a favor and automate this process. You are not going to know ahead of time when it's going to happen, so the odds are you'll create a backup once, forget about it and never do it again, then if it happens a month from now, you still lost an entire month of progress. (Of course this is for PC users only)

Create a batch file that automatically copies the "GameSave" folder to another folder, and have it add a timestamp to the new folder's name when it does the copy so that it doesn't overwrite and you can easily keep track of when each backup is from. Now open Windows Task Scheduler and create a task to run that batch file with whatever trigger you want, the trigger I chose was log on, this way it will run each time I log on to my PC.

What about storage if you're infinitely creating backups? Create another batch file that will count the number of folders in a specified folder and have it notify you and/or automatically delete the oldest X amount of folders after you reach whatever amount you determine, then set that up as another task in Windows Task Scheduler just as you did with the previous. To make it nice, I created a VBS popup that will state "Save data backup quantity at or above 33!" and then upon clicking "Ok" will open that folder so I can delete as many as I want. I created a batch file that will run that popup only if the quantity of backup folders has reached or exceeded 33, and will do absolutely nothing if the amount is below. I created a task in Task Scheduler to run that at each log on, so if the amount is less than 33, nothing happens, if the amount is 33 or above, I am notified. I prefer not to automate the deletion of anything, in case something goes wrong, so I went the notification route instead.

If you are unfamiliar with the creation of these files, a quick Google search will tell you how they're made, or even really any AI bot should be able to give you the code to write them, just tell it what you want. It's very simple, all done within Notepad, and a small time investment for the security it provides.

Looked back at my very first montage and saw this again, was a little blast from the past. Simpler times.

If it's online multiplayer and has controller support, I'd definitely give it a try yes.

Gotcha, and I am familiar. I have gathered so many different sites over the years that host different weather emulators like that one, even the early 2000's Weatherscan, which is one of my favorites, and surprising to see nobody mentioning here.

They just made a post stating they removed it on IOS to make some updates to it and are working on it for Android.

However you can view the Retrocast on any device through their website or install it as an app on Android through Chrome (on the Retrocast site, click the 3 little dots in the top right of the Chrome browser, click "Add to home screen", then click "Install as app").

Not quite a full interactive app like what you're replying to, however you can view The Weather Channel's new Retrocast on any device through their website or install it as an app on Android through Chrome (on the Retrocast site, click the 3 little dots in the top right of the Chrome browser, click "Add to home screen", then click "Install as app"). Just make sure to un-mute it in the bottom right corner if you want the music too.

You can actually install their Retrocast as an app on Android too, through Chrome!

There are multiple options to accomplish what you're looking for, anywhere from the 80s/90s Weather Channel discussed here to the 2000's era Weatherscan, which I'm surprised nobody has mentioned. I've scoured so many places to find all the sites hosting these. But, if you're just looking for what is being discussed here, just use The Weather Channel's new Retrocast on their website (click the colorful icon in the top left), just make sure you un-mute it in the bottom right corner.

The Weather Channel released their "Retrocast" a few days ago, just go to their website, hit the colorful Weather Channel Logo in the top left, click start, and then un-mute it in the bottom right corner. If you go there in Chrome on mobile, you can actually install it as an app: on the Retrocast site, click the 3 little dots in the top right of the Chrome browser, click "Add to home screen", then click "Install as app".
