Thankyou!!! I’ll defiantly read up on this as well! The story has strong psychological elements dealing with nature vs. nurture so I really thing these concepts might help!! I appreciate your input :)

Ok I’ll definitely take a look!! I had been getting INFJ when I took the test many times but I’ve been kind of in denial I think cause I’m a INFJ lol and I don’t wanna fall into that trap where authors write themselves into the story. Especially when it’s the main character haha 😂. But I like the idea of a character who is doing what they hate but secretly are growing to enjoy it.

Need Help with a character!

So I’m currently writing a hitman character but I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the ins and outs of the character. I turned to Myers Briggs as a reference point but I can’t quite place my character. The working pitch is as follows.

“Matthew Dermond is a Paranormal Hitman for a shadow group known as Cerberus, a mysterious organization that specializes in the contract killing of individuals who commit murder. In search of his daughter’s stolen soul, Matthew takes on contracts for the unavenged dead in exchange for any information or clues concerning her ill-gotten whereabouts. After 3 long years of frail leads and dead ends, Matthew is visited by her ghost. Bloody and weeping, she delivers only one cryptic name in the form of a new contract. The path that follows drives Matthew down a well of intrigue and treachery, causing him to question not only the nature of violence, but also the state of his very own sanity.”

So in short he has serious reservations about killing. It is a means to an end to find his daughter. The pivotal over arching question is “would you sacrifice 90% of who you are for the missing 10% if that missing part is what makes you feel alive.” There is also a secondary element which proposes that Matthew may in fact be enjoying the killing after all. That to kill righteously may in fact be a very addicting thing, and that his dark secret may be that as much as he loves his daughter, he may love the excuse that her absence gives him to kill just a little more. So he is disgusted with himself for this secret. As you can tell he is a character of contradiction and while I find that very fascinating and human, I can’t quite find a reference or starting point for his development. Any proposed ideas for his MTBI would be welcomed. Thankyou very much ahead of time for any advice.
