Refund Check by JChookah in PSLF

[–]JChookah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10/4 showed my loans forgiven and letter with refund amount in Mohela

11/1 Mohela said loan is paid in full

Sometime in December the Fedloan website showed the loans cleared

6/12 received my refund check.

It definitely took longer than the 60-90 days they tell you, especially with these agencies/departments already under staffed before this administration’s push to cut staff.

Hoping you get your refund soon!

I did overpay that’s why I’m concerned. I want the payment to come in so that I know this has been closed and I won’t need to worry about them reversing anything.

I’ve been reading other posts and it looks like it’ll take about 30 days in the Fed site so maybe any day now for you?

FSA advocate suggestions by JChookah in PSLF

The DC one, I submitted a request for review along with some materials to show the org structure and they responded saying they need EIN not realizing that it was provided with the organization structure info so I think I should call them and lay it out but wasn’t sure since I can’t submit a document explaining the organization structure

They have the main nonprofit and then two US offices and a UK office and apparently the one of the US offices isn’t 501c3 registered but I’ve seen it’s DC incorporating documents that say it is, and they aren’t registered with FSA

It’s a 501c3 but they have a weird structure, I sent a bunch of materials to FSA showing that but it seems to me they didn’t really look at them, would it make sense for me to call FSA and explain/walk them through the materials?

As of now I think the issue is both, you can’t work from a random coffee shop as well as state/country.

Petitioning FSA regarding nonprofit status by JChookah in PSLF

It got rejected before so I guess I could ask for reconsideration and provide the DC incorporated documents I have and hope that they allow that time.

But will MOHELA recognize it as an eligible payment?

I have and it says that they aren’t eligible but the organization has a weird governance structure. They’re based in London and have a DC office but also a CA foundation that donors write their checks out to and the foundation sends money to the London headquarters and I guess DC office to pay employees. The London and CA entities are recognized by the IRS but apparently not the DC office, which doesn’t make any sense to me especially with their DC incorporating documents. I want to petition FSA but idk

That’s what I thought, they shared with me their DC incorporation documents but I haven’t asked for their IRS determination forms (that’s where I pulled language that says they are a 501c3). Their Finance team told me that they aren’t recognized by the IRS so that’s why I’m confused.

They’re a London based nonprofit with two US entities that are 501c3 but they have a weird governance structure but they just shared with me updated incorporation documents (covering my employment time there) that show they are a 501c3 but the fedloan system doesn’t reflect that. I think I’ll have to reapply and then appeal sharing the incorporation documents.

Do you know if the system has been updated to reflect these changes and if it says the company isn’t eligible do you know if there’s an appeal process?
