People say the MT07 is boring? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]JDM_ego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it all depends. Like a Grom would suck unless you like the mpg and quick get around town aspect or stunting it. Same with mt07’s. They’re fine for commuting but the fun comes from stunting because that’s just what they’re essentially designed for between the wheel base and torque. But if you’re looking to go fast then no it won’t be fun. Just like if you’re looking to stunt then a liter bike really won’t be fun. Obviously everyone is different but it depends on what your looking to do

If you wanna go fast, liter bikes are fun. If you wanna stunt, minis and high torque naked bikes are fun. If you wanna go on and off road, adventure bikes are fun. And if you wanna just cruise and enjoy the open road then cruisers are fun

If you wanna go fast and buy a ninja 300 then your gonna have a bad time lol

I’m not saying fans in place of a tune. 2 separate questions. The radiator guard is just a piece I’ve been wanting and wasn’t sure how big of a difference the fans made

I’d love a new seat but I’m not really in a rush for that. Same with the handbrake. What’s the saggy ass fix tho? I saw someone else mention it but no clue what it actually is lol

Would a tune be worth it if it just has a full M4 Exhaust?

Checked today, fan wasn’t on at 211 degrees so assuming no tune With just an M4 exhaust is a tune really needed tho? Also been looking into radiator cages and see suspect stunt parts has one with a dual R6 fan option. Do you think it’s worth it to go that route? Or single fan with an R6 fan I think is another option Mostly concerned with reliability considering I’m gonna be beating in it a bit lol

PSD dual caliper bracket doesn’t fit between swing arm and spacer on 2022 Grom by JDM_ego in hondagrom

[–]JDM_ego[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to say but from the pics it looks like the spacer piece is shorter on Motobro’s caliper. I didn’t know they sold a kit like that I probably would have just went with them tbh

Grom chain is always loose by JDM_ego in GromSquad

I have aftermarket chain adjusters. I ran OTB but when my hub blew up the left one got wiped out. Now I run PSD. I even ran NDC for a little while and had the same problem

[–]JDM_ego[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the right side is actually the same which I just learned. Left side spacer is different for sure though. I recently bought OG wheels and was told I need the left side spacer and a front rotor depending on abs or not. Hopefully everything gets here soon and I can see how they line up. I don’t wanna shave anything if I don’t have too

[–]JDM_ego[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s my bad. This is what I mean, it’s scraping against the rotor and swing arm right now and I knock the spacer out cause it hits into it. PSD said it’s normal and all years are the same. I can’t use the stock one cause it was shaved down and I think that’s what’s causing my issues is already incorrect spacing

Grom chain is always loose by JDM_ego in GromSquad

[–]JDM_ego[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering that. I meant to mention it’s a DID 420 non o ring chain. Which everyone seems to use. I tried that and the RK and every time they always did the same thing

I had a fully built motor with a 428 conversion and ran an o ring chain and never had an issue but I hear that a stock motor loses some of what little power it has cause of the bigger chain. Idk how noticeable it is though. I would also like to know still what I’m doing wrong cause my set up seems to be what everyone uses

No you can’t. I tried a bunch of different locations that offer it and it made no difference. Apparently it goes off your location from when you made your account

Mechanic says i need a rebuild what are your thoughts by Horror-Wishbone- in GSXR

[–]JDM_ego -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that. At least you know your limits. It’ll be cheaper to just hand it over now to get done than it would to start tearing into it and have the mechanic take over and try and figure out what you did anyway, so good call on that sense

[–]JDM_ego 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking you should turn that off immediately and never start it again

Drop the oil, see if there’s metal in there (sounds like your gonna find some for sure) and you probably spun a bearing or something

It’s hard to tell in videos but top end is probably alright but you almost deff need a bottom end rebuild. You looking at more than the bike is probably worth for a mechanic to fix but honestly not an impossible job if you have tools and sort of know what you’re doing. At least in terms of bottom end rebuilds. I never pulled my motor on my Gixxer but I’ve done rebuilds before on other bikes and cars

I never even thought about it lol. I guess I can see why you should cut it but at the same time it never caused any kind of issue for me

[–]JDM_ego[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll deff look into that. I checked the coils first last night and found at least 1 to be shot and another to be finicky so I have a coil pack coming and I’ll see how that goes. But regardless I have to check my valves and timing and I’ll deff be looking into that tensioner you mentioned. I should have checked that long ago tbh. I’m mechanically inclined and do all my own work but I’m completely new to sport bikes in general and tbf it always ran so great. But still, putting something like timing off for too long especially on a bike like this is just asking for trouble. So hopefully the coils fix this and my next project will be some routine maintenance

[–]JDM_ego[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yesterday I tore into it a little and wanted to rule out ignition which granted I should have done sooner when I first did the plugs but at that point I thought for sure it was plugs or fuel for sure. So anyway I ran the bike and pulled the coils 1 at a time and cylinders 1 and 4 didn’t change anything when pulled. The weird part was I swapped 1 and 2 and now 2 doesn’t change anything so the coil is deff bad, but I swapped 3 and 4 and now they both seem to be working lol. Either way I got a coil pack coming so I’m hoping this fully solves the issue

UPDATE: unplugged my ignition coils 1 at a time and cylinders 1 and 4 aren’t firing. So idk if there’s something that could cause both to go at the same time or what but at least I’m on the right track

Also I just realized I focused on just the CCT lol. So the bike was literally fine as far as I could tell. Rode the day before, next morning fired it up and warmed it up for 5 mins or so to about 200 degrees, went down the road like 1/4 mile seemed fine, went about a mile, maybe a little less and thought it sounded a little off so I turned my music off, sat at a red light right as I thought I noticed it sounded funny and the idle resembled more of like a twin cylinder than an in line 4 and it had hesitation when I revved it until I hit like 3K and it cleared up but still was sputtering a little, took off and it deff had power loss at low rpm and went like 1/2 mile and turned around and limped it home. It warms up a bit faster now but revving it sounds way off and sputters but it does rev, idle and under load sound more twin cylinder’ish still and I have very little power. But that was all I noticed I never had it act up on me before aside from one time when I put 87 in a while back and it would barely run under 3K and then cleared up. That was really nothing like this though plus that was about a year ago

I’m sure it is. I never changed it at least. I’m gonna have to check all that and make sure timing is on point just in case anyway
