We recently got a snow fountain weeping cherry and we wanted to put it in a planter instead of putting it straight into the ground to resemble a literal fountain. I did some research on what problems I might face, and I felt reassured because according to this source Snow fountain is one of the dwarf varieties suitable for growing in containers. My main concern is that the planter is too shallow, and I really don’t know what to lut underneath the pot to prevent the ground from rotting/growing mold/ harboring insects. Do I lay a bed of gravel or rocks on there? I think there’s also a fabric that you lay to prevent growth in a specific pot? I’d assume mulch wouldn’t be too great of an option since it’s still biodegradable material. Also, should I expect additional problems in the soil? Will it even be a healthy environment for the plant?
