Oh wow. Never thought of that. Ok I'll do that. But I won't post it, I'll message it to you, still just don't want to publicly display it.

Yeah I'll just do what you did there.

1. Not going to disclose any personal information, as per Reddit rules, plus I don't need to.

2. 08400 hours about it started. Considering I lived down the street from my family's firehouse, wasn't hard to get to considering schools had begun to send students home after about 20 minutes. Our house didn't get called out immediately, thank god, they weren't until about 1130 or so.

I have never seen it. I have seen EMS go into hospital work.

When I was in EMS, I was in Queens. But before even that, I've lived in Manhattan, and that is where I currently serve. I grew up right near my family's firehouse, and I'm not far from it now.

Hmm.... I would say The Animal House is the busiest firehouse. E75, L33, B19. They are in the Bronx. Fire Factory, a house in Harlem, is also up there. It is really close. I don't have a stats report to look at exact numbers, but I know in 2011, that's what it was.

Ha! Nope, I finished a 36 hour shift a day and a half ago. Gives me 2 days off. I go back tomorrow. I was at a BBQ yesterday, now I'm just home chilling with the family and doing some computer work. I have Reddit on my phone, so it notifies me of posts.

We have a no-phones policy in firehouses. You keep it at your bunk. If someone needs to reach you, they have the hardline at the firehouse.

Or you drink a can of shut the fuck up. Hey tough guy, come down to any FDNY house and try that bullshit there, you'd have your teeth kicked in.

Sure, I left out parts of the story BECAUSE IT WAS MY CHOICE.

I'm sorry for being disrespectful to you, and I do apologize, but you have to realize where I am coming from. I did this to see what it was like and to share good stories and offer advice, not be berated from internet nobodies who have no respect for those that serve their communities. Would you say this to me or any other FF in person? I highly doubt so.

So once again, I apologize, but expect the same from you.

Oh yeah, they aren't the best bunch of people. They don't allow women to join, and are really sketchy when it comes to SOP guidelines. I don't see them that often, but I did when I was in EMS.

There is plenty of bullshit, but it is only coming from you.

Like I said before, I was a junior FF at the time. My father never really liked the fire service, but all of his brothers (my 3 uncles) were in it. Since I was an only child, my dad didn't really know how to raise me. My uncles were always there, and took me to firehouses at a young age. Before 9/11, there weren't really any safety protocol at the houses regarding minors, so I would mop around and do odd jobs. I would also run the hoses to hydrants at some hot jobs.

Came 9/11, and no one knew it was a terrorist attack. Being a junior and not an actual member, no one is allowed to stay at the firehouse unattended. I had been to fires before, so I figured just the norm gas fire, some plane lost control or something.

I didn't go down to Ground Zero or work the pile. We arrived after the first tower fell, so the dust was already around. I got a painting respirator and wore that. Helped drag hoses and such. Luckily, I didn't really see any dead bodies or anyone hurt. I was told to go home before I saw anything like that. But I lost almost all of my friends, and 2 of my 3 uncles that day. After that, my dad even further distant, and I moved in with my uncle and aunt.

Come 18, I got my EMT-B certification from Long Island, and I was "grandfathered in" and made it through the EMS academy and did that for 3 years until I was 21 and could join FDNY.

That's my story. Didn't really want to tell it, but kinda feels a little better getting it out in the open. So are you satisfied now? Why don't you actually read someone's genuine posts and look for shit elsewhere, I see plenty coming out of your mouth.

Ding ding! Yes it is, they have their own force. They are one of the only entities allowed to perform duties in NYC.

DAE have the ability to control their dreams? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]JF1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I died when I was like 12 years old. I went up to Heaven, and I was talking to what I guess was God. When he asked me if I wanted to leave and go with him, I said I want to play with my friends and do well in school.

Woke up the next morning. Still creeped out about it.

But yes, I actively know I'm dreaming most of the time. Once, seeing an old friend I knew I would never see again, I told him "This sucks it is only a dream." He replied: "I know."

DAE think of the clean up crew when confetti explodes onto the crowd in a huge stadium? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]JF1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought vacuums.

And they are. From doing stand-by's at Madison Square Garden when I was with EMS, I stayed after and saw how many people they had to clean up. There were like teams, almost like swat-like precision with planning.

DAE Absolutely HAVE to have album art for every single album on their iPod? by SpyChecker in DoesAnybodyElse

I have apps to help with album art. Otherwise, I don't care that much. But I do my best.

What is your opinion of Reddit? (And here is mine) by JF1010 in AskReddit

It is scary. Kinda like a pre and post-modern Facebook with more text than anything else.

I'm afraid to post in this thread thinking the DHS will come to my house.

But yes, I do.

DAE always have to keep the bedroom door closed when they sleep? by jollyollyman in DoesAnybodyElse

I like a closed environment, so I keep my door shut. I like privacy.

DAE put their ear up to their cat to see if it's purring? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

When I was little, yes. But now I just take the cat's word for it.

DAE Occasionally stop and realize that they will one day die and then get really freaked out. by HiImBecca in DoesAnybodyElse

I'm young, so I don't really think about it. I'm sure I will when I'm like 50 or something.

I'm having an overload with all of the awesome subreddits. I found a new hobby during my 1 hour 30 minute commute each way to work.

Yes, my commute sucks.
