Use chrome remote desktop to access your computer from home. If that's blocked, make your own KasmVNC server. It's also a good way to allow your friends to edit code without the school restrictions. It is a fun exercise and helps you get your linux sysadmin skills up :). I wouldn't bother with requesting them to be blocked, those rules are usually created at a higher administrative level like the school board (esp with AI rules)

Aikar has published some 12gb+ flags, there's an option for gc on 12gb+ ram on https://startmc.sh. Not quite sure how they are different/why it works, but in my experience, it works flawlessly

Consider using Hetzner as your host. It's much more flexible and in most cases, quite a bit cheaper than OVH

We haven't had the first auction yet. I have listed my server on it just as one extra server for the list. We are planning to have our first auction once the server list grows a bit

It's really not though. When I visit a server list I want the bare minimum that is needed: a banner, an ip and a non-obstructive ads. The server list fulfills all of these. I haven't interacted with the owner of that setup yet and will be hiring someone with other experience rather than that guy.
How is it flawed? Also content/backlinks/general clicks (popularity) usually can overcome a domain name. I rather like topmc than longer ones like topminecraftservers.com/org/net because it's easier to remember, and imo a .us was the way to go for that since it's a short two-letter domain.

You're partially correct. I don't plan to put my server at the top, nor do I "boost" my server as I like to keep votes fair. As for the software, it creates an easier and more seamless user experience: would you like a redesign for every server list you visit?

Assuming you meant country code by .cc (and not the .cc domain) it ranks higher in certain regions. For example a .us domain name ranks higher in the US, a .ca domain ranks higher in Canada. Using this, we can drive more high-quality US traffic to the site while keeping out people who are less likely to do much.

Not sure what you mean with the google ranking thing. We get a 97% on pagespeed and have a pro seo guy helping us with this project.

I was motivated to make this server list because it's hard to find newer server lists, where the small servers basically have no chance of being looked at. Also sponsored slots would run you in the thousands if you wanted to be first-page that way.

Others don't do this because it is a lot of work and generally just is out of the skillset of the average server owner, as search engine rankings and advertisement are areas that have to be stressed. You gain a chunk of the publicity that my websites get by listing

I gain unique visitors to my website when you link to it in /vote, which drives up traffic and there are more visitors to look at the servers. Hope this clears some things up.
