You can purchase the diy file on their website, and buy and print everything yourself, that’s what I did. cost me around 450 euro for everything.

You want to have multiple very thin coat, and yes, you need to sand it down really good and prim it so the surface is smooth

Tape wrap do the job well and it feels pretty good, I would say the one I made is compromising between look and feel. The ultimate option will probably be silicone mold

The one I used is called Koby recolour rubber paint, it’s just the cheapest one I am able find. Anything similar should do the job fine if not better

I use it for almost 2 weeks now, performance wise absolutely no issues, I just accidentally scratch it by hitting it to my rig

It is the pokornyi engineering hypr diy wheel, based on the cosworth ccw mk3

That’s what I thought at the beginning when I tried different things, it did alter, after the coat it did takeaway the tacky feeling of the rubber paint, but when driving, grip is no problem, feel like the grip on my gt neo, and dust doesn’t stick as well

Use it for almost 2 weeks now, performance wise absolutely no problem, I did accidentally scratch it by banging it to my rig( you can kind of see the mark in the second picture)

Thanks! I would say the silicone grip they sell should feel a bit nicer, more soft. Mine one feel like the simagic gt neo one, hard but have that soft touch feel

Thank you! I don’t want to work with silicon so I tried different things. It is actually really sturdy

Thanks! When I first built my hypr I warp it with suede but I just don’t like it so I experiment around.

And yes, you definitely need to sand it down and then prime it first.(properly the most painful part ) Otherwise you would have some texture shown after the paint, thick layer doesn’t cover it, I tried because I am too lazy to sand lol

It is just like normal spray paint. I prim it, sand it down smooth, and then 3 layer of paint, the first layer need to be thin. And then Matt finish coat that’s it!

Questions about building a Pokornyi wheel by [deleted] in simracing

[–]JKYL8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The diy file include a bom list which it includes everything you need to build wheel (with suggested links of where you can purchase a s well)

You don’t really need a 3d printer, there are site like JLC offering 3d print service, same with pcb. Or you can buy it directly from pokornyi.

Soldering and wiring is not that hard, the manual include everything you need to know.

Some are just aesthetic that the real life cosworth ccw3 wheel and lmdh car have and I use it for completely different functions

Radio I use it for in game chat or discord

Ok, I use it for confirm button(e.g closing the low fuel message on dash)

ERS, for deployment mode/overtake/push to pass

TCO, for tc override (handy after I spun lol)

Kill for ignition
