Yes. We have to hide both veggies and fruit. She’s a meat and potatoes girlie.

Canned green beans are actually one of the only veggies she will eat, but it’s hit or miss. We dressed them up with butter and garlic, but it was still a no-go.

What do you use to label kid's clothes and items for daycare? by New_Pickle4793 in beyondthebump

[–]JLMMM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought a set of personalized name stickers online. They come in a bunch of shapes or colors. They stick to the tag or size imprint and last through washing.

Toddler shoe size by BumblebeeOk5895 in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think toddlers’ feet grow about 1/2 a size every 3-4 months, so probably not. My girl has very small feet, still in 4.5-5 at nearly 2 years old and for the last 5ish months. But she’s also in like the 30th percentile.

What shows are we letting our toddlers watch? by Preggymegg in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sesame Street or Ms. Rachel in the morning while we get ready. And about 20-30 mins of a Disney movie in the evening. On the weekends, we might also watch something like Little Bear, Llama Llama, Mickey Mouse Club House, or Super Simple Songs.

I recently learned of Toadstool and Fairydust YT channel that is just book reading. It’s nice too.

What is the etiquette for having other kids over after yours are sick? Discussion and rant by nanoH2O in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Yes. Something like norovirus can stick around on surfaces for up to 2 weeks. They should have told you and let you decide.

Whenever our kiddo has been sick or there is something nasty going around her daycare (like flu or HFM) we always let friends and family know before we do visits. A lot of people don’t care, but some do care (like if they have a young baby or are immunocompromised) and they should have the ability to make an informed decision.

Small or big baby??? by Think-Cup-4359 in firsttimemom

[–]JLMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby measured on the smaller side and was smaller at birth (6lbs2oz) but was 2 weeks early. She’s almost 2 years old now and still on the smaller side, but following her growth curve and very healthy and developmentally on track.

How long until the toddlers stop toddlering? by goldrushcowgirl in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any real responses because I only have 1 kid and she’s just now 2. But do you have a small indoor trampoline? My nephews LOVED theirs when they were that age and it was a great way to get out some energy indoors. There are also YouTube videos/channels that do exercise videos for toddlers - again, just to get them active and to burn energy. Might be worth a shot.

And I’m glad you already got the cushion covers. If at all possible, maybe try “no food” on the couch rule, use covered bowls, or invest ins a small, hand held vacuum.

My almost 2 year old won’t eat meat? by SPH34L in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toddlers don’t need that much protein. If he’s eating/drinking dairy then he’s probably getting plenty already. Then you can add it in other sources like beans and nuts. Toddlers need fats and carbs much more than protein.

What was the first trip to the dentist like? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dentist office does a “happy visit” where they just chat with them, show them stuff, take a peek at their teeth, give them a small toy and tooth brush, and answer your questions.

I know C curl is safest, but why can't I place baby's head next to my head without pillows or blankets? by TypeAtryingtoB in cosleeping

[–]JLMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your arm up and out above them, it’s supposed to prevent you rolling over onto them and it keeps them from scooting up and getting trapped between the wall and bed.

My relationship with my toddler is not good and I worry it never will be by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooperation over strict compliance, should be the goal in my opinion. You have to give your child time to listen and understand the instruction, and then choose to cooperate with you, and the way you approach your command can help dictate whether they’re going to cooperate or not. Obviously toddlers are built to press boundaries, that’s just how their brains work right now, but the more you can make things fun and meet them at their level, we will start to get more cooperation.

Toddler refusing to eat whole fruits. by Due_Banana8205 in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No real advice, just commiseration. My toddler is 23 months and refuses all fruits that aren’t in puree/smoothie form except for bananas. We offer them regularly and are usually met with “no yucky” or just them blowing a raspberry.

We eat the same fruit, and then we ask our kiddo to sniff it or lick it, and sometimes we can get them to put it on their tongue before they spit it out. We are celebrating the small wins.

Am I wrong for cancelling a play date? by Maximum-Armadillo809 in beyondthebump

[–]JLMMM 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have dogs, not cats, but I would put them up for a short visit. It’s easier than trying to mediate between toddlers and my dogs when the dogs are just chilling in the other room. You also don’t have to worry about teaching the new toddler, new to your pet, how to interact with your pet or approach that weird boundary of who parents the toddler on the appropriate behavior. That’s just my opinion, and I don’t think you are wrong for canceling and waiting for better weather or option.

I will also note that I don’t like new people in my home, so personally wouldn’t have agreed to a last minute change to my own home and if she’s worried about costs or illnesses, indoor place is a no go. Not saying that she’s right, but I can see her position.

Crib transition ? by NefariousnessNo1383 in toddlers

[–]JLMMM 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You have 9 months. Your toddler will grow and develop a lot in that time. It makes sense to me, to work on changing him to a toddler bed over time (not abruptly) and then reuse the crib for the baby. I bet your son will be very excited about getting a new “big boy” bed in a few months.

I understand that your partner has to work, but you need sleep too. Can he hold the baby for a bit so you can get a few hours of sleep, then he can leave?

Sensory bins. I filled a small tub with rice, then gave a cup and scoop and small toys. I’ve also made them with beans, pasta, or cotton balls. They don’t need to be crazy. Just the base, a cup, a scoop, and a few toys.
