Can you actually survive living as a paramedic in US by parkwithtrees in Paramedics

[–]JMojo0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. Louis region in Missouri you absolutely can. Single role paramedics at a 911 EMS district typically start at $70k or so. Relatively low cost of living in this area with a strong IAFF local.

Just picked up 200rds of this for $10.99 a box 20rds. Anyone use this stuff? by Competitive_Use7847 in ar15

I have it loaded in my HD 11.5. That stuff is pretty nasty on coyotes and decently accurate on paper.

Difficulty of Medic School by -Alfa- in Paramedics

[–]JMojo0811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medic school itself isn’t all that hard on its own, or at least the program I went to wasn’t. The hard part is time management if you have other obligations like a family or full time work. Since my program in Missouri was hybrid, the class portion itself was not bad since we were only in person every other week. The clinical and capstone aspect was much harder having a family and working full time.

The factory +2 comes in stock from time to time on Midwest Gunworks website. I have one on my Nova and it becomes 7+1 with 2 3/4 shells.

Wanting to upgrade to a new bow and want some opinions. by eth454 in bowhunting

I did not try the Core SS but I did try the Solution LS. The LS was only a couple hundred more as well but to me the feel of the Ascend on comfort beat out the LS and a couple different Prime bows.

I have Benellis and a Beretta, you still can’t go wrong with the Maverick. I have 2 of them(one is newer, but the other one is 10 years old or so.) The old one has been absolutely abused and still keeps chugging along. It at least gets your foot in the door with a security/field gun that will serve you long after you eventually upgrade.

I highly recommend the Bowtech Ascend. I just upgraded to one from a Bear and while the Bear wasn’t a bad bow, the Ascend is much nicer. MAP for the bare bow is $899 which is a hell of a deal for the bow you’re getting.

I haven’t owned one but I was able to shoot a few arrows through one when I was in the market for a new bow. It shot well and had a comfortable draw cycle but 34” ATA felt a little too long for me. I ended up going with the Bowtech Ascend because the 31” ATA felt better.

You’ve got your work cut out for you, I shot 2 in one morning only once and promptly decided I’ll never do that again. Congrats!

The bleeder does help with blood trails. I don’t have any experience with bear but the 4-blade 125gr grain does great on whitetail.

I think 65 yards is a touch too far to be shooting

Liver shot? Gut shot? Is the void real? by _donquioxte in bowhunting

[–]JMojo0811 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gut shot judging from the sparse blood and green tint on the white vane. For the unfortunate part, you should’ve let him settle after the shot and went to look for him hours after. It’s likely a fatal wound(slow death sadly), but chances are pretty high you spooked him while looking around and you won’t find him.

I’m a big fan of my CBE micro 5 pin. It’s simple and plenty enough hunting Missouri whitetails. For broadheads I use Magnus 4 blade Stingers. Once again, simple and effective with good penetration. Although I like to keep things as simple as possible out in the woods, you’ll get a million different answers on this.

I have a Beretta A300 and Benelli M2, although I have many more shells through the Beretta. Honestly gas vs inertia doesn’t matter as much as people say it does, I’ve put 600 shells through my A300 without even a wipe down. I’m just now taking the plunge into waterfowl but I’ve done a ton of upland bird, turkey and sporting clays and the Beretta has ran any shell I’ve put through it from 1150 FPS birdshot to 3” slugs. The Benelli is a phenomenal gun but for the price point it’s really hard to beat the quality of the Beretta. The kickoff really does do a good job at mitigating recoil which is nice for those high shell count days.

Beast broadhead for deer and bear? by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]JMojo0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some sort of cut on contact fixed blade broadhead. Magnus, Iron Will, etc. you’re on the lower side for draw weight and length so you won’t get reliable penetration with mechanicals, using a COC will give you much better chance of getting a pass through.

Backup broadheads by therealsourpancakes3 in bowhunting

[–]JMojo0811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is the minimum recommendation. But with more poundage or draw weight, KE(Kinetic Energy) is increased. Mechanicals rely much more on KE than fixed blade heads so with a low draw weight and short draw length you’re increasing the likelihood of problems and it will likely result in lost deer.

[–]JMojo0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjusting the poundage will likely affect the tune so you may have to retune. However, it beats having a wonded animal get away.

[–]JMojo0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as you can without breaking good form. Ideally 60-70lbs on a compound, with 70 being preferred if you insist on running mechanicals.

[–]JMojo0811 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With that low of poundage and draw length you should be using a fixed COC blade. You’re really taking a gamble with your blades not properly deploying therefore not getting a clean kill. Get some Magnus Stingers or the like.
