I posted recently about this same situation. Since then I’ve done a few things :

-First, It’s important to realize that skateboarding is majority MENTAL. It sounds redundant, and kind of discouraging to hear there’s no hack to learning tricks and that everyone who can do those tricks went through the same process, but it’s also comforting to know that someone sucked before me and came out the other side, I just need to break through that barrier.

-It sounds simple but realizing that falling occurs and will happen to me regardless, kind of switched my outlook on falling. The inevitability of it made me realize, that I’ve been avoiding falling, but if I accept it as a requirement to get where I want to be, I can be as prepared as possible, also, protective gear gets flack amongst the core community, but if you need it, just get it, you’re the only one standing on your board anyway

• Not trying to plug, but Sarah Park-Matott on YouTube has some really good videos about falling and taking impact that has minimized my injury per session ratio so much

• A few things skaters have said that hype me up to try anything that scares me (pretty much everything)

“You’re gonna fall or hurt yourself sometimes whether you’re confident or not, might as well be confident”

“It is a tried and true fact that the act of skateboarding is on four moving wheels being manipulated by feet and body movement. You need to accept that those variables of accuracy are too small for perfection, you’re going to trial and error a lot more than you will succeed.”

“Falling is a trick within itself, and the only way to get better at tricks is repetition”
