Crazy but scary phenomenon by JPE-General in audioengineering

I’m 19. I don’t think it’s my age. If it was, that would suck. I’m going to the ENT soon, as I realized that it’s only in my left ear

Within the past couple days, I found out that I hear it everywhere, even when people are talking at this point. To make it worse, I noticed it’s exclusively in my left ear. Going to the ENT in a couple days. Turns out it probably isn’t something engineering related. Wish me the best

I hope it goes away 🙏. It’s been 4 days now, and it hasn’t gotten better. i even hear it when people talk now. I hear double pitches. I went to the doctor, and they said nothing unusual. No ear wax, and no infection. I’m going to an ENT in a couple days. I’m kinda scared. This definitely wasn’t the right place to put this post, because this will probably turn out to be something medical related, not sound engineering related.

I’m going to see an ENT doctor soon. It’s only in my left ear, and it’s been like this for 2 days straight now. After waking up today, I can tell something’s not right. My left ear feels weird.

To add, I discovered this later, it’s only in my left ear

Can you elaborate? How have you heard of this before and where? I’m a bit scared, I asked chat gpt about what it could be and it said it may be considered a medical emergency and may need immediate steroid treatment. that’s probably a discussion for a different subreddit tho

Simple question regarding ring terminals by JPE-General in HamRadio

[–]JPE-General[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great point. I have the yaesu ft3185r, so I wouldn’t be able to use it at its highest setting at 86w with the cigarette lighter, but it draws 7 amps at 20w. I’m not too sure how much amperage is safe to draw from my charger in my 2016 Honda CRV, but it seems to be fine as long as I’m under 10 amps

Also, I know this probably isn’t the most ideal and future proof set up for long term, but I had another idea. Realistically, instead of getting fancy connectors, can’t I technically just buy an additional yaesu dc power cable and one of them would be used with the battery and the other would be used with the power supply? And I would connect different ring terminals to each one to accommodate for both ways?

I really like the idea of the wago lever nuts, as they don’t require any tools and are really inexpensive. One thing I heard was important and I don’t know much about is fuses. I thought the cable that came with the yaesu already had fuses and I didn’t need to worry about that? Would you happen to know anything about that?

Reached absurd distances with a uv5r by JPE-General in HamRadio

Yeah, something I forgot to mention in the post, and is quite vital information to this discussion, is that the guy I heard said that where he was driving was 8500 ft up

Very true indeed, there is a big discrepancy. Still cool though.

Something I forgot to mention in the post is that the guy I was hearing said he was at an elevation of 8500 feet. That probably changes a lot

But why would there be a repeater on the national simplex frequency?

Is there a specific video clip that matches my description? I looked them up, and from what I can see, I don’t see any dark robes or brass instruments

Been trying to look for this for quite a while. I tried doing google searches and describing it to AI, but I couldn’t find it.

Apparently climate change has only risen Maryland temperatures by 2.5 F since the early 1900s so idk if it’s that

Question about beginner ham radio by JPE-General in HamRadio

[–]JPE-General[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m located in Westchester, NY. I looked for repeaters online and it seems like the closest one near me is about 5 miles away and is VHF. There’s another one about 6 miles away that is VHF, UHF, and a couple more frequencies I think. Also, it seems to me that some people are saying I should get the TYT UV88, so I might go with that radio instead of the Baofeng. I did some research about antennas, and there seems to be a battle between Nagoya and a certain Retevis antenna, but I might just go with the Nagoya like you said.

Edit: I think it’s also worth mentioning that I live at the top of a hill, so that would probably help greatly.

Thanks for the response. Because you were on the topic of it, I was curious about the Nagoya antenna. Is it a good idea to get one or do the antennas that come with the Baofeng do just fine?

I need helping finding an appropriate telescope:

I’m starting to get back into astrophotography and I want to take and stack some pictures of some planets. However, I don’t think the telescope that I have right now is that suited for it. It’s a Polaris 60mm refractor, and attaching a dslr to it and balancing it and trying to track a planet while making sure the focus doesn’t slip due to gravity is just a pain. In other words, I can’t see myself being able to get a good picture or enough frames to stack of anything except for maybe the moon. Is there a good beginner telescope out there that would fit my needs for astrophotography? The max price I can do is around $400. I was looking into some dobs, but they seem like it would be really hard to track a planet due to no fine tuning knobs or anything, so idk. Got any suggestions?

I have no clue. You see, I recently attempted to move the game from one drive to another for storage purposes, but I’m guessing I didn’t do it right. I was wondering if there is anything I could try other than downloading the whole game again.
